Today is a sad day for me and for our country. How I'm going to miss President Obama and his beautiful family! He's a truly great man and has been a credit to our country. I'm proud to have voted for him (twice) and I don't think we shall ever see his like again.
Here is an open letter to the American people he released today. It made me cry.
Thank you, Mr. President.
We will never see a president like him again.
ReplyDeleteI hope his good work is not completely overturned in the next few years
Me too.
DeleteBit of a lump in my throat. I don't even remember a US president still being so respected when leaving office. I don't think that will happen again in the short term.
ReplyDeleteI doubt we'll get so lucky again anytime soon.
Delete*sniff* I'm from Canada and I'm choked up. Such a good man, and such a beautiful family. A real class act.
ReplyDeleteI think so, too. They gave me hope.
DeleteWell, it's the big day today. The whole world is keeping fingers crossed for you all.
ReplyDeleteIt's a dark day for our nation. I'm really worried.
DeleteThe letter is very moving. I am something of an Obama "fan", especially since I read his 2006 book "The Audacity of Hope". If you have not read it, please do! Click here if you are interested in my review of the book.
ReplyDeleteHow well the letter deals with the fear that one person (i.e. Trump) could easily ruin a lot - if not all - of what has been achieved during the last 8 years, simply by emphasizing the "we" as the key element of democracy.
I'm glad to know you're a fan too! I read The Audacity of Hope, too. Thanks for the link to your review!
DeleteI share your feelings.
ReplyDeleteThank you for supporting President Obama!
DeleteThank you for printing this; I had not seen the entire thing. What a good man he is and what a fine president he was; did so much on issues I feel so strongly about. I too am proud to have voted for him twice.
ReplyDeleteI did not watch the ceremonies today. I will, however, be watching tomorrow's coverage of the march/demonstrations! I am hoping that the turnout is huge. Wish I was going....
It broke my heart to see them get on the helicopter. I cried.
ReplyDeleteLove,
Janie
In all of President Obama's recent public pronouncements and speeches there has been a shadowy undercurrent of prompts to the American people and coded messages to Trump. It has been a difficult balancing act. Looking in on America from England, I have admired President Obama from the start. Cultured, compassionate, inclusive and a man of vision - it is a crying shame that Congress stymied him so often.
ReplyDeleteSuper-Duper site! I am Loving it!! Will come back again, Im taking your feed also, Thanks.
