The day I've been looking forward to for years now is finally here! I've accepted the job at the school!!!!!!!!
The pay is a tiny bit more than the starting pay at my current job, which is better than I had hoped for! Much to my relief, I won't have to have a second part time job to make ends meet. This is a relief since my volunteer duties as a Guardian Ad Litem will be a second (unpaid) job in itself.
I'm just thrilled. Can you tell?! Haha!
I've been so unhappy at my current job, for years now. And for years I've been looking for a new job and a way out of retail management. My job at the school will give me state benefits: health insurance, retirement, etc. Not to mention.........no more working nights, no more working weekends, no more working holidays..........! I'll be on the same schedule as the teachers: two weeks off at Christmas, a week off at Easter, and two months off in the summer. I still can't believe it!
Thank you all for your kind words, good wishes, and support. Today, I'm the happiest blogger in blogland!
Woo Hoo
ReplyDeleteWoo hoo indeed!
DeleteYasss! This is wonderful news! Congrats Jennifer, I'm so happy for you! :-)
ReplyDeleteThank you Chris! I thought this day would never come! :)
DeleteOh honey! I am so happy for you!!!!
ReplyDeleteThank you Ms. Moon!!!!!
DeleteWow that is good news Jennifer. A dream job. I am, as Chris above said, so happy for you. I am smiling as I type.
ReplyDeleteI haven't been able to stop smiling for days!
DeleteThis sounds like an ideal move for you Jennifer. Hurray!
ReplyDeleteI'm so very happy...and thankful! Hurray indeed!!
DeleteYippee! Regular hours and plenty of holiday time. After all the knock-backs you have had this is a dream come true. There will be a lot to learn in the new job but you can do it Jennifer. I hope that you and Gregg will have a bit of a celebration. Great news!
ReplyDeleteI still can't get over my good fortune. I bought a bottle of champagne to celebrate but haven't cracked it open yet! And several friends are asking to take me out to celebrate at some point in the next two weeks...they know how long I've been waiting for this. I feel very loved and supported!
DeleteCongratulations! You must be feeling great. I'm so happy for you.
ReplyDeleteThank you Sue...I feel WONDERFUL! At long last!
DeleteYayyyy!!! See - we all kept telling you that one day you'll find that "perfect" job :-) Let's hope it'll be as good as it sounds right now! Two MONTHS off during the summer?! I had no idea kids have such long school holidays in the US, I always thought kids here in Germany have very long summer holidays at 6 weeks.
ReplyDeleteSome school districts go to school year round, and get their holidays spread out more throughout the year. We're still on the traditional schedule of summers off. I can't even imagine how it's going to feel next summer to have so much free time!
DeleteYeeHaw !
ReplyDeleteI am so HAPPY FOR YOU !
and
You can have lunch with you husband when he is there !
cheers, parsnip
Thank you so much! Yes, I'm looking forward to seeing Gregg a couple of times a month when he's there servicing the aquarium!
DeleteI am so happy for you Jennifer.
ReplyDeleteThank you Yael...for your kind words and your ongoing support!
DeleteThank you, Jesus! It's about time you got a better job. You deserve it, and they will be glad to have you.
ReplyDeleteLove,
Janie
I hope they'll be glad to have me! The staff seem very kind and welcoming. But if some of them are difficult, well....I've had 6 years at my current job to get used to working with some really difficult people! :)
DeleteI can stop holding my breath now. I wished so much that the outcome would be good and I am happy for you.
ReplyDeleteThank you Unknown Reader!
DeleteOh ...... I'm so very pleased for you Jennifer. What wonderful news. AND you can have lunch with the aquarium man. ð How good is that?? No wonder you're the happiest blogger in blogland!!
ReplyDeleteIt's been a really happy week! Thank you!
DeleteCongratulations! That is great news and I hope the job is everything that you hoped for.
ReplyDeleteI think it's going to be a big adjustment, but a good one!
DeleteThat really is great news; and worth waiting for. What you'll lose in salary, you'll make-up in sanity! Very pleased for you.
ReplyDeleteThe loss of salary isn't that bad, considering I'm starting over at the salary I had in the beginning at the bookstore. And as you say, what I lose in salary I'll make up in sanity...very well put, Cro!
DeleteCongratulations Jennifer, may the job be all you hoped for. Wishing you every success and happiness.
ReplyDeleteI truly appreciate your kind words!
DeleteWell done Jennifer. So pleased for you. When do you start? The schools here finished for the summer last week, until early September. Is it the same there?
ReplyDeleteMy first day is August 9th. The kids come back the following week. We're not on year-round school schedules down here.
DeleteYay!! Woo hoo! That is such great news. Congratulations and welcome to the world of education. :)
ReplyDeleteThanks Steve! When I told my father in law I'd be working at a middle school, he said, "I imagine middle school kids can be a real pain in the ass sometimes!" Hahaha! It was a totally unexpected kind of thing for him to say, and it cracked me up!
DeleteI am delighted to read this! Congrats.
ReplyDeleteI'm delighted too! Thanks!
DeleteWell done Jennifer. I hope your new job meets all your expectations.
ReplyDeleteAlphie
Thank you Alphie! I hope so too!
Deleteyou won't know yourself!
ReplyDeleteAin't that the truth!!!! :)
DeleteI don't know about you, but I'm elated. SO, so happy for you! Congratulations!
ReplyDeleteElated is the right word! I've been walking on air all week! Thank you!
DeleteCongrats.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations and welcome to the world of education.
