Halloween recap

Yesterday was the most fun I've had at Halloween in ages!

To begin with, we pulled a few seasonal decorations out of storage a couple of weeks ago.

This past weekend I had to go to the drug store to pick up some prescriptions, and while I was there I bought some extra candy and small toys to hand out (glow in the dark bouncing eyeballs, anyone?!). I also picked up a few other things I'd been needing, including razor blades. I didn't think about how that looked until I got home--buying candy and razors right before Halloween! I wonder what the cashier thought.

Here are the treats spread out on the table for sorting. I wanted make loaded treat bags for the kids I knew who were coming.

Guess who I got to see?! Little P.!

I also got to see Carsen, who is 4 and a half years old, now. She's growing like a weed.

Here's my favorite photo of the night: Prophet, Carsen, two little girls (who are nieces of the nice young couple across the street) and an extra girl whose parents are friends with Marla. Look how cute these kids all were!

The kids all had sooo much fun! Here's a little clip of them acting all jubilant after one house gave them candy. It reminded me of being a little kid on Halloween, myself.

Speaking of little kids.....the Batman had a blue tongue! All the neighbors were super generous, and most had good candy.

So many of our neighbors were extra generous with treats, and everyone seemed to have a really good time.

At the end of the night, George and Poppy were sorry to see everyone leave. They had a great Halloween (with lots of doggie treats) too!

A sweet post! You were so generous and Little P is starting to look like Big P now. On the video that's the first time I ever heard you laughing! It was kinda nice to hear that.

Oh- this made me nostalgic for the days that my kids trick-or-treated and when we passed out candy from our front door. It really can be a joyous holiday. Thank you, Jennifer, for sharing this.

We had our Trick or Treat Saturday. I have big dogs, no one comes near my house, that's fine. My, how Poppy has grown.

Your place looked very spooky! Love the glow-in-the-dark eyeballs, the cute kids in costume, and Batman's blue tongue!

I love everything about this post! Little P cuts a dashing figure as Batman. The girls are all adorable, and I can just imagine how much George and Poppy enjoyed the evening. Was Marco part of the party, too?

You must live in a great community and it was a heart lifting post to read. No surprise that Little P appeared.

I talked to my grand daughter last night and asked her what she thought of trick or treating. She loved it, she told me with great enthusiasm. They went as a small group, and when they came home, Iris stood in the front yard with her friend both of them yelling at the trick or treaters: "Come here, kids, we got candy!!!!" "Over here!" My son said she had more fun giving away the candy than she did getting it and indeed, that is the thing that she was most enthusiastic about when she talked to me.

For the first time in a long time we had trick-r-treaters. First time here. They came in groups, 3 to 5. Giggling age. I haven't had that much fun since I spent Halloween evening at a friend's house when we lived in Santa Clara. We had a bag of candy and there are just two pieces left. The highlight of the evening was when I opened the door to a group of perhaps 5 girls and the girl closest to the door looked in and saw my 1936 Airline radio console. She said, "Oh my God, is that a time machine?"
:)
She's right, in a way it is. I've had it a long time, it's been on the planet earth a long time, I've spent a long time in my life working on it to keep it going, and it's been the host of some very fun times. I don't think that's what she had in mind but still. She made me laugh.

I didn't realize you could hear me laughing until after you posted this comment and I went back and listened! :) Little P. is VERY tall for his age. I was surprised at how much he had grown in a few months!

I'm glad you enjoyed the post! There was so much joy--not just the kids, but the adults handing out candy, too. I think they had almost as much fun as the children.

She really has grown! She's around 50 pounds now, which is a surprise. We imagined her topping out at 40 at the most, but now it's looking like 55-60 might now be impossible. She's still less than a year old!

Somebody gave out tongue-staining ring pops! I thought the eyeballs were a fun addition to the older kids' bags.

By the time we got back from walking the neighborhood with the kids, Marco was in his cage going to sleep. Carsen and Prophet wanted to see him, but he refused to come out. I told them they'll have to come back soon and spend some time with him.

It was so good to give Little P (and his sweet mama) a big giant hug. It had been a while since we'd all seen each other, and I've missed them.

Our little neighborhood is filled with good people, and I think they enjoyed seeing the trick or treaters. I was so happy to see Little P.!

I love that photo, too. They were waiting there for me after I saw the last guests off.

It really was a great Halloween. It reminded me so much of when I was a kid!

That's so sweet! I love it when kids enjoy giving to others like that. Plus, handing out candy really is a lot of fun! Happy Halloween Debby!

A time machine! Haha! That's so awesome. That would have been the highlight of my evening, too!

Most of these kids were "giggling age" too, and it was a joy to see them having so much fun. Our neighborhood went years without many (or any) trick or treaters, but between my friends' kids and a few young families that have recently moved in, our numbers are increasing every year. Several neighbors seemed absolutely delighted to have kids coming around again.

We did! Me as much as anyone! Thank you.

That looks like the perfect Halloween! I had lots of trick or treaters - probably around 60! I had to count my candy towards the end so I would know how many to give each kid! :)
