Another winter storm is set to blow in late tonight, and this one may very well set some records--for snowfall!
Readers from more northerly climes, feel free to laugh at me, but I'm excited. Kids are excited. Everyone's excited! There's a very high chance that we're going to get anywhere from 6-10 inches of snow this weekend, and that just never happens around here.
Our trusted local weather guy shared this photo from our area last night:
Not only are we supposed to get quite a bit of snow, but for the first few days of next week temperatures are going to remain way, way below normal. Whatever we end up getting will probably stick around for a while.
This all is supposed to begin around midnight tonight. I'll be posting photos, of course! Laugh if you want to, but it's going to be a beautiful, rare treat and I'm going to soak up every minute of it. :)

DeleteI loved our snowfall last week and shared some pictures...but I'm over it now...now it's getting tired looking and not fresh anymore. We are just frigid now.

Oh, we're set to get some. Actually, it looks like a BIG one this time! I feel kind of sorry for those of you up north that get so much snow it's just a nuisance most of the time. And old, dirty snow that hangs around would get tiresome. Fortunately for us any snow tends to go away quickly. :)
DeleteSnow can be great fun! I just found some old photos of a snowday where I made my grandkids snowman pancakes and hot chocolate with fancy toppings. And mashed potato snowmen for dinner (on top of stew that has simmered all day) is fun, too. Just don't lose power!!!
ReplyDeleteWhen I was a kid my grandfather made "snow cream" out of sweetened condensed milk and vanilla on the rare occasion that it snowed. I thought of snow cream last night for the first time in decades.

They're saying now we're set to get several inches, maybe even over 6 inches. Unheard of for us! The kids are beyond thrilled!

ReplyDeleteWe'll probably miss some days of school, but as long as there's electricity and internet access the kids will have to do "e-learning" days. Travel will be out of the question--we simply don't have the proper equipment to deal with big snow this far south.

DeleteI am certainly not laughing, Jennifer - even though I have seen plenty of snow in my life (nowhere near as much as people who live in the mountains, or the Black Forest), it never loses that magic it had for me when I was a kid.

Isn't it wonderful to be an adult who can still appreciate the magic of a winter wonderland? :) I don't ever want to be too grown up for that!
DeleteI'm from the north, but not from an area that gets much snow, so it's an Event. As long as it doesn't stick around too long, it can be fun. Just not long term, especially for those expected (required) to be at work on dangerous roads. Our snowplows mostly have names and the fleet is small.
ReplyDeleteIt's definitely an Event here, too! We don't have snowplows but I think they truck some in from elsewhere at times like this.

I definitely will! We're not expecting to lose power. For once, it's going to be so very cold that the snow is expected to be very light and fluffy, hence less weight on tree limbs and power lines. I'll be blogging with pictures all weekend and into next week, probably! Thank you. :)
DeleteIt's going to be very, very cold in Florida--probably the most extreme cold I've experience since moving here, which is still not as cold as it was when I lived in Maryland or Illinois. We probably won't get snow, but I'd love to see a bit.
