My sweet old man, George, is the happiest dog I know. I haven't shared a picture of him recently, so here's one I took today. Isn't he the handsomest good boy?
George appears to be laughing. Had you just told him a good doggie joke? The secret to life is to handle every situation like a dog: If you can’t play with it, eat it or bury it, just pee on it and walk away.
George has alegria. Spanish. Hard to translate. Hemingway said it was a happiness that nothing could diminish. Happiness in the moment like the impulse to dance without showing off. *Sus ojos brillaban de alegria ... * His eyes sparkle with joy. I'm reminded of Paul Auster's dog story, Timbuktu.
He's such a gentleman, Colette! When our young dog, Poppy, butts in front of him to get to a treat first or to be petted first, he stands back and lets her get away with it. He's still big and strong and could put her in her place, but he won't. He loves her.

Of course he is a good dog with a huge smile. Lucky you. Gigi
Good dogs are like medicine for the soul. I love that photo of George!
What a great photo! I bet his heart is as big as his smile 😊❤️
Adorable! What a smile!
There's nothing quite like a Pittie smile. :)

It‘s a great picture of a great dog!
That smile is contagious!!
He looks like a total sweetheart!
What a great smile!
He's gotten so sweet to people (even strangers) in his old age. Mary, you would love him.
I love his smile too! He's my sweetest boy.
George is almost always happy when the family is all together. He knows the secret of living in the moment and enjoying life!
Thank you Gigi!
I don't know what I'd do without George and Poppy (and even a-hole Marco) and all the love and affection they give me.
It really is! He loves his family and friends so much. He's a good boy!
I'm eagerly awaiting the arrival of your next dog, Steve! You should get a wild little puppy to keep you on your toes in retirement! LOL
I know! It's those big block heads and wide grins!
This comment is beautiful. Thank you for sharing it with me!
I'm so glad! Thank you!
He's really gotten to be so sweet in his older years. It makes my heart ache a little to think he's already 13 years old.
You can't stay in a bad mood around a dog like George!

I think so too, Ellen! I'm glad I captured it. Both of my dogs tend to look away immediately if I try to take their picture.
