Back in business

I'm finally able to blog again (comfortably) because I bought a new computer! Yay! The old one bit the dust last week, and when we purchased a new one, we discovered that the old monitor was dead, too. I had to go out today and buy a new one of those. But finally, after a week of commenting on blogs and writing posts on my phone, I have a real computer to work with again!

I wanted to buy a nice laptop instead of another desktop, but the price for decent ones was out of our current budget. We should get a few years out of this new machine and hopefully by the time it dies, we'll own a couple of laptops. We just can't afford one (let alone two) right now.

How's your week going? Mine is pretty good. Despite being worried about my husband it's been nice to be off work for spring break. Gregg has an appointment with a nephrologist on Friday so maybe we'll get some answers about the blood clot on his kidney. Meanwhile, he's taking blood thinners and the occasional pain pill as needed. He's also scheduled for some heart function tests next month, to see if an underlying heart condition is the origin of the clot. For now he's feeling okay and that's the main thing.

This is just a hurried post; I have a few things I need to accomplish this afternoon. I'll blog later tonight or tomorrow about some things going on this week that might be of a little more interest than computer problems and blood clots.

It's good to be back!

    1. I should have a thumb drive somewhere with all my old photos on it. That would be from the last time a computed died on us! It was expensive to get everything moved off the hard drive so I hope I can find it and not have to pay for all that again!

  3. Missed you, Jennifer.
Here's to Gregg getting it all figured out! Or, the doctors getting it figured out and letting you guys know.
I think new computers are pretty exciting. Clots aren't exciting but they're interesting.

    1. I'm not all that interested in the new computer, honestly. I resent having to buy one right now when I had hoped to buy new barstools for our kitchen counter, but such is life I suppose. Computers are just a tool for me.

  5. They'll probably keep Gregg on the thinners - safer rather than sorry. I'm a... well, bit of a techy so I have both, a laptop and a PC, which is used for blogging and gaming. The PC has a really sweet video card. I don't tell people how much I paid for it because they then think I'm nuts.

    1. I can well believe that you paid a small fortune for both of your computers! I would, too, if we could afford it although I don't do all that much on mine.

  6. Yes, good to see you back and to hear the update on Gregg. Catch you on the flip side, as we old folks used to say.

  7. Like you, I am also "back" - having suffered similar computer agony. It felt weird - not being able to connect in the habitual way. Fingers crossed for Gregg on Friday.

  8. I am shopping for a new computer/laptop also, but I do hate to spend the money and also have fears of setting up a new one. I have to count on one of my kids but I don’t like to ask as they all have busy lives.

My thoughts will be with you and Greg on Friday.

    1. I hate the trouble of setting up a new computer, too. It's all such a pain, and remembering passwords for accounts is the WORST. Good look with yours!

Thank you for the kind thoughts.
