Helper

This bird loves nothing more in the whole wide world than "helping" with laundry.

He loves it so much, in fact, that he'll scream with outrage if you dare to turn on the dryer or fill the washer without his Feathered Highness in attendance. If you want to preserve the peace in the house you have to let him come into the laundry room and supervise every step of the process.

Life with Marco.

    1. Ha! I wish he was capable of doing the laundry....he would be welcome to DO IT ALL! He'd love it, too. There's something fascinating in it to him; he even rides the top of the hangers when we're putting the clothes in the closets. And he LOVES the closets. Loves them.

  2. Is this the same sort of help as portrayed in the Shel Silverstein poem :

And some kind of help is the kind of help
    That helping's all about
And some kind of help is the kind of help
    We all can do without

    1. That's it exactly! You have to stop and take time to let him climb the clothes before you put them in the washer, and then he likes to play when you're folding clothes from the dryer...as in, he wants you to throw light tshirts and such over him so he can peek out. He'll say, "Where's Marco?" and then screech in delight when he pokes his head out. It's all very time consuming.

    1. Everyone thinks they love him but they haven't tried living with him! He can be a right "pain in the arse" as John would say.

  4. How much does he contribute to the need to do laundry?

    1. Actually, he almost never poops on people. That's one of his good points. He'll poop off the back of a chair or the sofa in a heartbeat, so you have to keep certain places covered, but I can't remember the last time he pooped on an actual person.

  5. Have you ever told us the story of Marco coming into your life. Did I miss it?

  7. And I'll bet he's mastered the art of folding a fitted sheet.

  8. "His feathered highness" - that made me laugh, thank you!
My cats all used to love it when the bedding was changed. Of course it was only done so that they were kept entertained.

  11. You have to love a male who loves laundry. Can he match socks?

  12. I hope he doesn't poop on the freshly washed laundry. Life with Marco must be similar to living with a demanding toddler.

    Love,
    Janie

  13. I thought that "to parrot" meant "to copy or repeat what someone says without thinking about it or understanding it properly" but clearly it means "to supervise the processing of laundry by an agitated parrot owner".

  14. What a character he is and rather demanding.

  15. Ha! Maybe he likes the warm clothes out of the dryer? I must confess I had the same thought as Janie above.
