Month Ten (of the longest year ever)

October is here and 2020 continues it's run of being the craziest year ever. You couldn't make this shit up. I don't have much to say about the POTUS being sick. I'm trying hard to swallow the mean, small part of me that thinks he deserves whatever comes to him. I can't feel too sorry for him as a person, but I will admit that (I guess because of the office he holds) I got a lump in my throat when I saw him getting off the helicopter at Walter Reed. These are precarious times for our country. I can't imagine the resulting chaos if he should happen to die, and I hope that doesn't happen. What I want to see happen is him to get voted out of office in a landslide in November and then just go away. Not to the graveyard, mind you, just away. I can't wait until he's out of our national consciousness and we can hopefully start to heal and move on as a country.

Trying to be a bigger person won't stop me from posting these memes for your enjoyment, though.

On the increasing consensus that the original "super spreader event" was the Rose Garden event at the White House to announce the new nominee to the Supreme Court:

On right-wing hypocrisy:

It's sad that that last one is only funny because it's so true. Anyone who has Trump loving friends on social media know what I'm talking about.

Onto more pleasant topics. Martina dropped off a copy of  Solutions and Other Problems by Allie Brosh that she bought for me yesterday and I finished it this morning. It was funny, just like her first book, but the part where she talks about her health problems and then the sudden death of her younger sister was heart wrenching. I'll do a quick review of this book as well as a few others I've read recently in a later post, but suffice it to say this book was worth the wait.

Today I went bought a larger, prettier planter for the ficus tree on the porch. We're getting ready to bring it back inside for the winter.

And since it is October now, I added to decorative jack o' lanterns to our front porch.

I hope you're all having a good weekend, and that all my American friends are keeping stress and anxiety at bay as well as you can.

  1. Did you see Trae Crowder's take on Trump getting the virus? It's pretty spot-on.
I love how you covered the dirt in your ficus pot with Spanish moss. I use it too!
Keeping stress and anxiety at bay? Hmmmm...
    Vodka? Sure. Why not?

  5. People in Hollywood are already working on a film of his term in office; they're probably throwing themselves out of top story windows as I write!

  6. Love RBG statement I hope it is true. I still can't believe she is dead.
Oops. . . I am a conservative always have been but that sounds just like Trump's followers and of course Megans and Harry's gang. They all sound the same.
Love your tree and lovely planter.
    Take care and stay safe.

  7. That list of people from Trump's inner circle with the virus is growing by the minute. What gets me is that the ones exposed directly to Trump including his family should be isolating for two weeks but instead they are in public campaigning!

    I love your jack o'lanterns!

  8. And the list will continue to grow I suppose. What idiots! Love those jack-o-lanterns and the new planter.

  9. It would have been better if Trump and his gang had not become infected. I would have preferred to see him voted out of office without complicating factors like this. The waters are now muddied and he may garner a good number of sympathy votes. By the way, your smaller lantern looks like Trump! Exact same skin colour too.

  10. Don't worry if your heart is hardened towards the Idiot Jerk in the White House, forcing yourself to feel sorry for someone who is behind so much evil not good for your soul. Yorkshire Pudding is wrong, the only ones concerned for him are his base, public sentiment is moving against him. This election is about one thing only, his inability to confront and deal with Covid 19, and America is angry to be the laughingstock of the world.

    1. How could Yorkshire Pudding possibly be "wrong"? The very idea of it seems ludicrous. However, disagreeing is fine.

  11. I think many of us are wrestling with our feelings about Trump's hospitalization. To my way of thinking, he deserves to be sick for the way he's downplayed this pandemic and discouraged a scientific approach to containing it. It's totally karma.

  12. Can't wait for the election to be done! Hope, hope, hope that the current prez will be out, out, OUT!

  13. Your post echoed my sentiments exactly about Covid and Trump. 2020 has been a shit show. Your fig looks great and I love your pumpkins. October is one of my favorite months.

  14. I liked the pumpkins the most.

  15. The planter is very nice and I love the memes.
If I look at it just as a story, the situation with the president/ virus/ coming election is just fascinating. The implications, less so

  16. The RBG meme is great. I have no sympathy for someone who has discouraged the use of face masks.

    Love,
    Janie

  17. Did I get that right - you received the book on one day and finished it the next morning? Wow, that says a lot about the book, and your ability to read fast!
