Traditional Halloween fun

Carving pumpkins with an 8 year old is an activity I can highly recommend. My little buddy was beside himself with excitement when I showed up on his doorstep with a pizza and plans to make Jack o'lanterns with him and his mom! Here's how they turned out:

Little P's pumpkin....it's the Flash symbol!!

That's one of his favorite superheroes so I found the template for it online and printed it out. With only a little bit of guidance he carved most of this himself. I think he did a fantastic job! Especially for an 8 year old kid. He was so proud of it!

Next up, the one his momma made:

Spooky!

And last but not least, the super quick, mostly freehand ghost carving that I chose.

All together now.....

And finally, one very happy, very excited little boy.

We had such a good time!

  1. I love them all!!!!! Nice to see the halloween spirit alive 👻🎃🦇

I usually crave little pumpkins and place in them headlights...but didn't have time with my visiting mother....so I lined the window sills with those little mini pumpkins.

  2. WOW, they're huge Pumpkins too! I carved one with my grandson Boo Boo, but that's as far as our 'celebrations' go this year. Well done Jennifer.... a good job!

You helped create a very special evening for this little boy, and I dare say it will stay in his memory forever. Last but not least, YOU had fun, too - sorely needed and most welcome, no doubt.

  6. You must have had a blast!! Good for you! The pumpkins are great. I've never been good at it. In fact, most of the times I was finished, they looked like they were just waiting to be made into pies.

  7. Good times. I miss those with my kids and don't have grandkids yet. Hmmmf. I may have to go look in the neighborhood for a surrogate.

  14. Pumpkin carving with kids is a true joy. I especially love it when they get so grossed out by the "guts". I don't think they really are, but they love to pretend that they are, don't they?
