May Day garden update

Happy May Day! We've been working hard in the garden lately and everything is growing and thriving. I'm getting so much pleasure from working outside this spring!

The mixed annuals are so pretty right now.

The sky one afternoon last week. That beautiful blue.

For the first time, my pomegranate tree is covered in flower buds! And although you can't really tell in this picture, a pair of cardinals have made a nest back in there which we have a great view of from the window in our den.

We took down half of an old wooden picket fence that was leaning and sagging and generally looking bad. This is a trellis we built yesterday from wood that we saved. Waste not, want not, right? This is where I'll be planting the cantaloupes tomorrow. I bought compost and garden soil to mix into the planting holes.

Gregg would not be happy that I'm sharing this picture, but you can really tell how the tomatoes have grown in it and capturing his image was an accident. Shhhh....nobody tell him!

Finally, more repurposed wooden pickets that I put behind the five biggest indeterminate tomatoes this morning. They will serve as stakes to tie the plants to when they start to get tall.

Happy May Day!

    1. The wood was on its way to either the burn pile or the dump, so I was pleased to be able to get some use out of it! Thank you for the nice words!

  3. I'm liking your garden, and especially the recycled trellis. And composting cord, no nails. Well done. I originally wrote "string" there, but went back and changed it to cord. No decent farmer uses string! It's cord all the way.

  4. Your Toms are a bit bigger than mine. I covered mine over last night, as we were forecast low temperatures. It didn't happen, but I'll leave them protected for one more night. I wonder which of us will have the first ripe Tomato????

  5. Oh your garden is so pretty and I can't believe how big you pomegrante tree is. Love the trellis hope you have some pretty to train on it. After you cantaloupes start to get bigger they have these plastic bowls with holes in them to keep the fruit off the ground and not be sitting in water and mud.

    1. The pomegranate has a really sheltered, South facing placement and it apparently loves the spot! I'll believe I can grow melons when I see it--but I'll have fun trying!

  7. I love the repurposed fence wood! Poor Greg. I promise not to tell. (But if I were Greg I wouldn't be happy with that photo, either.) You caught him at such an odd moment, it almost looks as if he were photoshopped INto the image. Your garden is going to be beautiful.

  8. Repurposing bits of the old fence was clever and shows a good attitude. To have new feathered neighbours living in your tree is lovely! Will Marco hear and see them?

    1. I doubt Marco will be able to see or hear much of them due to the location of the nest. He probably wouldn't be very interested anyway, though.

  23. And semi formal is the combination of the above two. Usually it is the built structures such as retaining walls, paths and steps that are formal and the informal element is the plant material which is allowed to spill over them, softening their hard outlines. mantenimientos de jardines precios

  26. How I Got My Husband back... Am so excited to share my testimony of a spell caster who brought my husband back to me. My husband and I have been married for about 6 years now. We were happily married with two kids, a boy and a girl. 3 months ago, I started to notice some strange behavior from him and a few weeks later I found out that my husband is seeing someone else. He started coming home late from work, he hardly cared about me or the kids anymore, Sometimes he goes out and doesn't even come back home for about 2-3 days. I did all I could to rectify this problem but all to no avail. I became very worried and needed help. As I was browsing through the Internet one day, I came across a website that suggested that Dr.Odu adebayo can help solve marital problems, restore broken relationships and so on. So, I felt I should give him a try. I contacted(WhatsApp) him and told him my problems and he told me what to do and I did it and he did a spell for me. 48 hours later, my husband came to me and apologized for the wrongs he did and promised never to do it again. Ever since then, everything has returned back to normal. My family are living together happily again.. All thanks to Dr.odu adebayo If you have any problem contact him and I guarantee you that he will help you. He will not disappoint you. you can WhatsApp him(+2347055287754)or Email him at : poweroflovespell@gmail.com.
