This is the old ice cream bucket where we store peanuts for the squirrels that visit our back yard. We leave them on top of the compost bin and then enjoy watching them have their afternoon peanut feasts.
Whenever we go out to the back porch, after a few minutes two or three squirrels will present themselves for feeding along the back fence. As soon as one of us walks out there and leaves a handful of peanuts, they rush over and help themselves. It's cheap fun.
Speaking of fun...my book club met this past Wednesday night. The book wasn't very good, but it was great to see my friends. As we were getting ready to leave I saw Karen H. preparing to take a selfie and said, "Hey! Can I get in on that?" and she said, "Sure!" The next day she sent me this montage.
The peanut container's slogan sums up your treatment of squirrels -- "generous friends."
ReplyDeleteYes it does!
DeleteGeorgie looks like a supervisor!
ReplyDeleteHe's the sweetest boy!
DeleteDo you feel observed by the door guard?
ReplyDeleteAlways!
DeleteI have lots of squirrels, but because of Howie they keep a keen distance away from the yard.
ReplyDeleteOurs avoid Poppy whenever she's out back.
DeleteLovely photos! You look very happy. What was the not-so-great book?
ReplyDeleteSee my reply at the bottom!
DeleteYou didn't tell us what the book was (so we can avoid it)!

DeleteI will now be hearing Screamin‘ Jay Hawkins‘ I put a spell on you in my head for most of the day!
ReplyDeleteLove the selfie montage with your friend, and the beautiful wreath on your front door. Isn‘t autumn a wonderful season? Every year when it comes round I think it‘s my favourite, but then spring arrives and early summer, and those two have so much going for them as well.
I love the weather and the blue, blue skies in October, but I hate it when it gets dark so early.
DeleteThis post made me smile. I love those selfies!
ReplyDeleteI'm glad I made you smile! :)
DeleteYour autumn wreath is delightful and George is a sweetheart.
ReplyDeleteThank you!
DeleteI love Autumn! Love your selfie! How nice to smile with friends!
ReplyDeleteWe always have fun at book club. It's nice to see friends.
DeleteWow you're aware Jen feed squirrels and birds. I think my neighbors got a little annoyed with the peanut thing, cuz now we have about 10 squirrels running around here! Blue Jays will also eat whole peanuts from the ground. It's funny to watch their beaks break through the shells. And I enjoyed saying all the fall finery.
ReplyDeleteI've seen Jays eat peanuts too! :)
DeleteOh Lord. We try NOT to feed the squirrels but with the pecan trees...
ReplyDeleteMaurice does her best to control the population.
Your front porch looks quite seasonal. Love the selfies.
My grandfather used to get so pissed off at squirrels eating his pecans.
DeleteInquiring minds want to know the name of the book!
ReplyDeleteLove the pic of George, and also the ones of you!
Check my comment below for the book. Thanks Steve!
DeleteNice photos of you!
ReplyDeleteThanks!
DeleteAll seems well in Florence SC. Even if you did not attend the "No KIngs" rally, i thoroughly expect that you were there in person as you are a member of the dreaded... "ANTIFA!" Aaaaaaaaaargh!
