We have a slightly different orb weaver. I think. A longer shape on them. Sometimes they are called banana spiders, in fact. And they are everywhere right now! Beautiful shot.
For years, I've had a spider living outside my bathroom window. No matter how many times wind (and maybe other animals?) destroyed her web, she would patiently weave it again, a perfect work of clear straight lines. We were on first-name terms, and often on week nights, she would be the last living being I'd see before going to bed. Some months ago, the web was destroyed once more, but never remade, and I have not seen "my" spider since. I suppose their live expectancy is not limitless, so maybe she simply died of old age, but I still look for her and her web every time I open the bathroom window.

ReplyDeleteWe have those here in Europe where they are simply known as 'Garden Spiders'. I've always been fascinated by the zig-zag part of their webs.

Spiders are artists, their webs are natural wonders. The pic is beautiful against the blue sky.

ReplyDeleteI love these garden spiders (Argiope aurantia) or Writing Spiders, which I prefer. I just hate that they eat my dragonflies...the circle of life... xo
