Hi friends!
Please forgive my lack of commenting on your blogs lately. For some reason when I try to leave a comment with my phone (which is how I do it about 75% of the time) suddenly I get a prompt that says "sign in with your Google account" but when I try to press the link to sign in, nothing happens. I can't figure out what's wrong. I've been so busy lately that it's hard to find time to sit down at my desktop computer so I end up reading on my phone when I get a few spare minutes. And then I can't comment on about half the blogs I read. The other half are just like normal. Why does Blogger have to keep being weird and changing and stuff? It's so annoying!
Work has been so busy and stressful. I've had even more tasks dropped in my lap, so to speak, and I just can't keep up with the workload. We have a temporary acting principal finishing out the school year, and I think I'm going to have a conversation with him soon. Even though he won't be our permanent principal, he works at the district office and he's a very good leader. Already we're wishing we could keep him permanently; he has an air of quiet authority and leadership that's making the school run so much smoother than it has in a long time. I feel sure if I go to him with my concerns, he'll do his best to intervene for me. What we really need is for a good new office assistant to be hired to help take over some of the tasks I simply don't have time for anymore. I'm doing the job of about 3 people at the moment and I need some relief.
But! School will be out in two and a half weeks! I don't recall ever being this anxious for a school year to end. Two months of gardening, spending time with the dogs and Marco, taking naps, and watching crap tv sound like heaven right now. I'm hoping for much better things next year.
Since I haven't shared one in awhile, here's a new picture of Marco. I took it on the back porch yesterday. Isn't he beautiful?
Marco is one fine looking boy! Hang in there, summer break is almost here!
ReplyDeleteThe end of this awful year can't get here fast enough.
DeleteMarco is stunningly handsome, that bird- all cool with attitude! Lovely boy. Hope your puppy is doing well and that George is being patient...what a wonderful family.
ReplyDeleteGeorge and the puppy are finally playing together and having fun! They're a couple of hooligans.
DeleteI'm glad that the temporary principal is bringing some stability and quiet to your last few weeks of school!
ReplyDeleteMe too. Everyone likes him and it's too bad he won't stay.
DeleteI hope you can get some help for the coming year; work overload is not good for anyone. I'm sure you can persuade the acting principal to stay on!
ReplyDeleteThe acting principal won't stay. He told me so just yesterday. He's the coordinator for STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math) for the entire district, and he loves his job. He's just helping us finish out this year. It's too bad.
DeleteI will read blog comments on my phone, but rarely answer them. Most of my blogging is done on my pc. I can check comments at work, but that's all I have time for.
ReplyDeleteI don't get a lot of time on my pc. Between work, and then after work having meals and housework, not to mention time for my husband and pets, and everything else, I only end up on my pc a few times a week. This should change over summer break, though!
DeleteMarco is my favorite! As a fairly new reader I would like to know more about his care and routines. He is beautiful and seems to be a great companion. I looked through some of your posts and enjoyed one about Marco and laundry.
ReplyDeleteI'll do a blog post about Marco just for you very soon, Wendy! Life with a parrot can be fun, but it can also be a giant pain sometimes! Marco is a real character.
DeleteThank you! Something to look forward to!
DeleteMarco is such a handsome young man! Your current principal sounds excellent. I think it is smart for you to talk to him about your work situation. It is wrong to put too much work on one person such as in your case. You can count on Blogger to be frequently changing things ups!
ReplyDeleteI don't think anyone has intentionally loaded me down with work, it's just kind of happened over the last few years and I don't think anyone has noticed just how much I'm responsible for. As to Blogger, well.....it's free, and I guess you get what you pay for!
DeleteAh. There you are/he is. The same happens on my phone. You can comment as 'anonymous' on blogs, but you cannot sign in. More improvements.
ReplyDeleteHi Tom! Thanks for stopping by. I hope you had fun on your birthday.
DeleteDude...that's one good looking parrot...
ReplyDeleteHe really is!
DeleteMarco is a "pretty boy," to use a parrot cliché! I don't know what's up on the commenting front. I changed the format of my comments and that seems to have helped some people, but I guess you're still having problems. BLOGGER!
ReplyDeleteSorry your job has become stressful but there is light at the end of the tunnel! (For us too -- but we still have four and half weeks to go.)
Four and a half weeks! I'd cry if that were the case here, after the year we've had! We're all hanging on by a thread.
DeleteAh! You just reminded me that I dreamed of a parrot! He was beautiful and I was taking care of him. How strange. I sure wish you could keep that principal. At any rate, hang in there, and it will all be over for a little while at least. But yes, you should talk to him.
ReplyDeleteWould you like to take care of a beautiful parrot in real life? I'll send Marco down to Florida and there might finally be some peace and quiet in our house! LOL. :)
DeleteMarco is a gorgeous boy. I've often thought I would adopt a rescue bird once I'm no longer a cat owner. As a child I had a "situation" involving my cat and a new pet hamster so I've since sworn off mixing predator and prey in one household. Summer holidays are almost here. May the school days fly by for you.
ReplyDeleteI understand your concerns about predators. A friend once let someone keep her parrot while she was out of town, and the person keeping him had a ferret. It was a bloody and horrifying end for the poor bird.
DeleteGlad the temporary principal is helping the school. Hope you do get a chance to speak to him and get some assistance. Take time to relax this summer - you deserve it!
ReplyDeleteI'm so excited for the upcoming seven weeks off! It's sorely needed this year.
DeleteMarco is beautiful and he knows it ! I hope you do get a chance for a talk and get some help !
ReplyDeleteIf help isn't forthcoming this year, maybe when we get our new permanent principal we can work it out.
DeleteI wish that I looked like Marco. Then I would turn a few ladies' heads when visiting the pub or climbing aboard the No. 88 bus. I would frequently call out, "Who's a pretty boy?" and they would respond in chorus, "You are!"
ReplyDeleteI wish I had Marco's excellent vision, and the ability to fly would be great!!
DeleteSo sorry. I tried posting Thursday but it was with my iPad and I had no luck. So happy he can see summer vacation clearly now. Marco is a stunner.
ReplyDeleteIt will be here in just a few more days!
DeleteYP‘s comment made me laugh!
ReplyDeleteIt sounds like talking to your acting principal might indeed be helpful, even if he won‘t stay.
Two weeks left - you can almost start counting down the hours now!
Yes, indeed. The countdown has begun!
DeleteI've had the same problem for sometime now; it is quite tedious.
ReplyDeleteI've had several problems with Blogger's infuriating new commenting procedure. Like the way it defaults to Anonymous and you have to work out how to change it to a name. And then there's a little box saying "Select Profile", but when you click on it nothing happens. What the hell was wrong with the way it worked before?
