Sunday morning harvest

I have a lot of lettuce at the moment that needs to be picked and either eaten or given away. It's getting to be too hot for lettuce, plus I need the space.

I pulled a few carrots to do a size check, and they're still way too small to harvest. These tiny ones will be a sweet, tender addition to a salad, though.

    1. No but we saw wild baby rabbits in our yard a few weeks ago. I wonder if they know my garden is there?

  3. Lucky you. I know from when my mother had a garden how much better the taste in produce from the garden than the market.

  4. My grandma used to make a hot lettuce dressing with bacon which was simply tastylicious over baked potatoes.

    1. The carrots are tiny still. I'm beginning to wonder if something might be wrong since they don't seem to be growing like they should!

  7. O.K.'s Mum has an abundance of lettuce and other leafy salads growing at the moment, too. She can't use it all herself so she is giving away lots - but so many of her neighbours have gardens of their own and grow vegetables, as is normal in a village.

  8. Isn't it amazing to think we can put seeds in the ground and wind up with food? It's a minor miracle.
