Sunday morning harvest
I have a lot of lettuce at the moment that needs to be picked and either eaten or given away. It's getting to be too hot for lettuce, plus I need the space.
I pulled a few carrots to do a size check, and they're still way too small to harvest. These tiny ones will be a sweet, tender addition to a salad, though.
Know anybody with a pet rabbit?
ReplyDeleteNo but we saw wild baby rabbits in our yard a few weeks ago. I wonder if they know my garden is there?
DeleteOoh, fresh garden lettuce!
ReplyDeleteIt's yummy!
DeleteYum! The lettuce at the store isn't very good. This looks much better!
ReplyDeleteIt's really good. I'll be growing more next year!
DeleteLucky you. I know from when my mother had a garden how much better the taste in produce from the garden than the market.
ReplyDeleteIt's a night and day difference!
Deletelovely !
ReplyDeleteMy grandma used to make a hot lettuce dressing with bacon which was simply tastylicious over baked potatoes.
ReplyDeleteYUM! That sounds delicious.
DeleteThe lettuce is wonderful. Carrots look good, too.
ReplyDeleteThe carrots are tiny still. I'm beginning to wonder if something might be wrong since they don't seem to be growing like they should!
DeleteI am grieving the fact that my lettuce is all gone now. Eat tons of salads. TONS!
ReplyDeleteI've been eating salad and giving away plenty, too.
DeleteO.K.'s Mum has an abundance of lettuce and other leafy salads growing at the moment, too. She can't use it all herself so she is giving away lots - but so many of her neighbours have gardens of their own and grow vegetables, as is normal in a village.
ReplyDeleteThat sounds like a nice village.
DeleteIsn't it amazing to think we can put seeds in the ground and wind up with food? It's a minor miracle.
ReplyDeleteI get excited like a kid a Christmas every time!
DeleteSuch a wonderful salad that will make.
ReplyDeleteThe lettuce is tender and sweet.
DeleteI can't help feeling those lovely slender carrots will be tastier raw.
ReplyDeleteThey were so tiny they didn't amount to a mouthful!
DeleteMmmm! I wish you lived on the other side of my fence.
ReplyDeleteSo do I, these days...

ReplyDeleteIt all looks so healthy. Do you have garden slugs and snails in South Carolina?
ReplyDeleteWe do, but fortunately I haven't been troubled with them....at least not yet!
