The Queen's passing

I was so sad to hear of the death of Queen Elizabeth II this afternoon. I would like to offer sincere condolences to my friends in the U.K. What a remarkable woman your late Queen was; what a remarkable life.

May she rest in peace.

I, for one, will miss her bright, beautiful outfits with matching hats! They never failed to make me smile.

The next photo was shared this afternoon by a friend on Facebook, along with the caption that follows. I think it's a fitting way to end this post.

May her journey be joyous, and may all who love her be comforted by the memory of a long life well lived.

(This photo was taken earlier this year, and I am envisioning it as her otherworldly escort.)

  1. She was here all my life, and now she's gone. God speed, good and gracious woman.

  2. It's odd. It's like one of those events, where I will always remember where I was when I heard the news, much like the Three Mile Island meltdown, 9/11 and now the passing of Her Royal Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.

I just think many had a connection with her more than any of the other royals.

  3. It's hard to think that when I was born she was sixty two. It's very unreal to think of a world without her

  4. The hats, I do believe, were a replacement for her crown, so she didn't need to wear it at public events.

  5. She will be greatly missed. Not a shock, but extremely sad.

  6. Like Cro says, not a shock, but sad. O.K.'s remark was that at her age, you definitely can't blame the midwife anymore.
Love the photo with the two white shire horses! That picture definitely has something otherworldly about it, I agree.

  7. You found some good photos, most of which I have not seen before. She was also Queen of Australia, Canada and New Zealand plus some minor island groups. Rough day for us down under.

  8. She was the heart of Great Britain, wasn't she?

  9. I haven't seen the white horse photo before. They DO seem like a heavenly escort!

  10. On behalf of the British people, I accept your sincere condolences. I was born in the year of her coronation and until now had never known any other monarch but I think that King Charles III will do just fine. He has had the most perfect of role models. God Save The King!

  11. I came back today to see if I could leave a comment, and voila, I can. Sometimes blogger is stubborn. The Queen was a beautiful role model for service and faith. I used that same ethereal photo you did of her and the white horses in my post.

  12. Everyone is writing about The Queen, and not just folks technically her subjects. I read ~ 85% of the world was born after she came to the throne and have never known otherwise.
