Happy Easter! I made Scotch eggs for part of our lunch today. This was my second attempt (ever) and they turned out great! I used panko crumbs for the breading and the exteriors have a nice crunch. With a couple of good quality mustards, they were a real treat!
And there was candy for dessert...
They look amazing!
ReplyDeleteThey're pretty good!
DeleteI immediately think of John from Going Gently when I hear scotch eggs! Those look fantastic! - Jenn
ReplyDeleteI'd never heard of Scotch eggs until I started reading Going Gently.
DeleteI expect that now John knows about your eggs, he'll come tapping on your day one day!
DeleteThose Scotch Eggs look dee-lish!
ReplyDeleteThanks!
DeleteYour Scotch Eggs look very professional. I was recently given one by my daughter-in-law which was an Avocado with an egg in the middle, and crumbed on the outside. It was nice, but I'd prefer one like yours!
ReplyDeleteAvocado with an egg in the middle doesn't sound very good!
DeleteThose Scotch Eggs look great! My Mum loves panko crumbs, she says they are the best. Cadbury‘s cream eggs! I have not had anything Cadbury‘s since last summer in Yorkshire.
ReplyDeleteI love Cadbury Creme eggs and always have to have one or two at Eastertime.
DeleteI have yet to try a scotch egg, but they always intrigue me. Would you be willing to post your recipe, that yours look delicious.
ReplyDeleteAnd God love you for eating a Cadbury egg. My teeth and stomach hurt just looking at them. They are way too sweet for me.
I'll post the recipe later today, although there wasn't much to it! Cadbury eggs ARE really sweet. One or two is enough for me for the year!
DeleteI'll just have the jelly beans... although the Scotch eggs look good.
ReplyDeleteI like jelly beans, and the dark chocolate Dove candies are nice, too.
DeleteWell done with the scotch eggs Jennifer! I have never made any myself and you appear to have done a great job with yours. Did you use some sausage meat in the jackets?
ReplyDeleteIt's impossible to find scotch eggs in this part of the world so if you want to eat them, you have to make them. Yes, I used spicy sausage meat to encase the eggs!
DeleteThose eggs look quite tasty!
ReplyDeleteWith a good quality strong mustard, they're delicious!
DeleteGood work, Jennifer. They look tasty! John of Go Gently will be smiling!
ReplyDeleteI got John's nod of approval, so I'm happy!
DeleteThose Scotch eggs look like the work of an expert!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Steve! I don't know about expert, but they tasted good! :)
DeleteNow let the master comment……..
ReplyDeleteThey look mighty fine
High praise coming from you, John! Thank you! xx
DeleteThe Scotch eggs look very professional Jennifer. Take it from me as one who loves my Scotch eggs that such is not easy to achieve. X
ReplyDeleteThanks Rachel! I worried after I got them ready for frying, because I didn't consult a recipe until then, and all the recipes said to roll them in an egg wash, then plain flour, then breadcrumbs. I skipped all that and just rolled them in panko crumbs after encasing the eggs in sausage. They turned out fine even though I skipped those steps!
DeleteI've never made scotch eggs but those look delicious
