Here are some of the scant handfuls of veggies I've managed to harvest from this year's struggling summer garden. Not pictured: a quart size Ziplock full of green beans and a couple more cucumbers (they're in the refrigerator). Sadly, these photos are the sum total of my tomato production so far.
I got exactly one Black Sea Man tomato before all three of the plants got a disease and died. It had a nice flavor, but still....one is just enough to be a tease.
I did slice it thin and tried to make a nice presentation of it. :)
Finally, I have a question for all you vegetable gardeners out there. I bought a 4-pack of what was supposed to be yellow crookneck squash plants at Lowe's a couple of months ago. I'm not sure what these are, but they're decidedly NOT yellow crookneck squash!
Can anyone identify this for me? Please and thank you!
Acorn squash.
ReplyDeleteI concur with Ms. Moon. The last time I grew tomatoes, they got blight. It was discouraging after all the work and watering I'd put in so I gave up. I hope my friends grow some though because there's nothing better than a homegrown tomato. :)
ReplyDeleteYup, acorn. Good cut in half with the seeds scooped out, a bit of olive oil and microwave til tender.
