Ruby throated Hummingbird |

Little frog with a big voice! |
All of these photos were taken several summers ago on my digital camera and were sitting, forgotten, on a thumb drive in my home office. They're all animals that call South Carolina home and are out and about this time of year!
Good job there wasn't a black bear or an elk right behind you when you were smpping these pictures. They are also native to South Carolina.

DeleteThere are no elk in South Carolina, and black bears only live way upstate in the mountains.
DeleteHow come Wikipedia got it wrong about the elk?
DeleteI wish we had Hummingbirds here; our wildlife is rather bland.
ReplyDeleteI wish that photo was a little closer in and showed his ruby red chest patch, but I love the fact that I caught him hovering in mid air. We only get Ruby-Throated Hummers on the East Coast. I think states west of the Mississippi get 3 or 4 more species.
DeleteBeautiful pictures m'dear, your wildlife there is stunning.
ReplyDeleteThank you, John. I knew, of all people, you would appreciate photos of these common little creatures! :)
DeleteVery nice pics. It is difficult not to scare the little buggers. Maybe it's just me.
ReplyDeleteThese are amazing pictures! The humming bird especially, but also the butterflies - usually they are way too quick for me to take any decent picture of them. (And of course there aren't any humming birds in Germany.)
