Some excitement over breakfast

My school had our annual "Doughnuts for Dads" breakfast this morning, where dads are invited to come have breakfast with their kids. You wouldn't think there would be much scope for excitement in that, but oh boy, what a morning it turned out to be!

Several of the dads in attendance today are police officers. And one of them spotted a dad who was wanted for attempted murder having breakfast with his child! All of a sudden our parking lot (which I have a good view of from my office window) was swarming with undercover police officers. One or two of the plain clothes officers sat in the office with our security guard, watching all the guy's movements on our school cameras. After he finished breakfast with his little girl and walked her to the kindergarten hall, he walked out the front door, and was immediately arrested.

Fortunately, they took the guy in without incident, and most of the staff (and all of the students) were blissfully unaware of what was going on. But the office staff and administration were quite nervous, waiting to see how it was going to go down. Thank goodness nothing bad happened!

And can you believe the nerve of that dad, on the lam for attempted murder, coming up to his kid's school to have breakfast?!

You can't make this shit up!!

  1. No way! Well, I guess at least we can say he's an attentive father, even if he is an attempted murderer! Perhaps his attorney can use that in defending him. "Your honor, my client was having a doughnut with his daughter at a school breakfast when he was arrested. How evil can he be?"
    I'm sure that'll work.
I bet it was a little scary. Those police had to be extremely careful. Do you suppose the guy saw all those cops and freaked out a little bit?

    1. They said when he left he was walking fast towards his car in the parking lot. So he must have figured out that something was up!

  2. No, you can not make this shit up!!! Though, I did have to laugh at the stupidity of the guy, probably a half-brainer Trump supporter.

    1. You never know what a day at school will bring! Of course, there was more daily drama at the middle school. Usually things are....tamer.....with younger kids.

  4. Wow!!!!! Now those are good police with talent. That is the best way to handle something like that...where the people around have no idea what was going on, or that someone was arrested.

    1. Yes, all the police who showed up had unmarked cars and plain clothes. There were so many people around that it wasn't at all obvious what was happening. They were very mindful of being in an elementary school and not causing panic.......or triggering a horrible event.

  5. I for one am proud of the dad for showing up, not letting his child not have a dad for the event even though it meant he had to come out of hiding. Sorry for his child that her date with dad ended so badly. But what are the odds one of the dads would be an observant cop.

    1. He even took the little girl by the book fair and bought her a book before leaving! And the child had no idea it happened. She was back in class and blissfully unaware that daddy got arrested as soon as he left!

  6. Never a dull moment. I tend to agree with BootsandBraids, he supported his daughter when needed, it's just a shame that he was a wanted man. Not her fault of course!

    1. He definitely gets good dad points, even if he is a criminal!

  7. Goodness!! Well, maybe he is innocent and therefore didn't think he should be in hiding...

    1. Well, and it was just "attempted" murder, not actual murder, so hopefully everything will work out. Maybe he is innocent!

  8. You can’t make this stuff up! Police and school handled things brilliantly.

  9. OMG! What a story! I'm amazed the guy showed up, unless he was unaware of the warrant. It speaks well for him that he wanted to be there for his daughter.

  10. Wow. Good on the police and the school for the way it was handled; I imagine the man's child would have been traumatized seeing her father arrested and taken away.

  11. No, one cannot make this stuff up. I could write a book with all of the tales from the different schools that I have taught in. I am glad that most people were unaware of what was going on!

  12. Sounds like the police dealt with this incident in a very unusual manner! They used forethought, tact and discretion! Not what one normally expects from police officers.

  13. Okay. I have to say this post caught me by surprise. I don't even know what to say!

  14. Good Lord, never a dull moment! What a strange juxtaposition of things, would-be murderer doing a sweet thing for his daughter. Perhaps he wanted to be caught and was saying good-bye to her. Life is so very strange.

  15. Or maybe he made a great sacrifice to be there with his daughter? I have to think he knew how risky it was.

  16. What a shocking amazing scenario and I am glad it had a peaceful conclusion. He must love his little girl a lot to take the risk to attend.
