November Saturday

It's a bright, beautiful Saturday in northeastern South Carolina. The autumn color peaks in early November in my part of the world, and I woke up to an intensely blue sky and a tree with golden leaves outside my bedroom window.

A block from my house. Look how blue that sky is!

I decided it would be a good weekend to start getting caught up on some housework. One of the tasks I had been putting off was cleaning out the garage where the dogs live. I had some new bedding I had bought for them at the Goodwill store. We have to (cheaply) replace the dogs' blankets and cushions regularly, because George will chew them up and destroy them. Here he is with his new soft bed--hopefully it will last until Christmas. I doubt it, though.

Handsome Devil.

I also cleaned and mopped the kitchen, put away the Halloween decorations, and cleaned the main bathroom and shower. It was all badly needed.

Tonight my friends Martina and Marla are coming over. I still have to go shopping for groceries and snacks to serve them, and I think I'll pick up some hard apple cider to drink. I'm looking forward to seeing those two and catching up with them.

Enjoy the weekend, everyone.

  1. This post is making me feel guilty for sluffing around in my pyjamas at noon. :-)

    Have fun tonight!

    1. If I wasn't such a generally terrible housekeeper, I wouldn't have to do marathon sessions right before company comes over. So no need for guilt!

  2. My bff has moved to the outter banks. She doesn't send pictures. Thanks!
My friend Ann owns a kennel. I suppose our jaunts come Christmas will include St Vinnie and new dog blankets and towels.

    1. The Outer Banks holds a special place in our hearts. You should visit your friend there. I envy anyone that lives there full time.

    1. He is sweet, and he is handsome, but he's also still very high strung (at four years old!) and stubborn as a mule. He's the challenging one!

  4. George, is it true that you destroy bedding?

Yes. I thought she was making it up. You would not do such a thing. I see it in your eyes.

    Love,
    Janie

  5. I was thinking of dog beds today when I saw that Bounce ripped a piece out of his new bed that he got yesterday. I wonder if dogs eat the stuffing and if that would be bad for them. Now I see George chews up beds too, and he is a lot bigger so probably does it in record time. Have fun with your two visiting friends.

    1. He's already chewed a small hole in the edge of the new green cushion, but so far he doesn't seem too interested in enlarging it. As soon as we have a rainy day he'll probably get bored and that will be the end of it.

  7. An evening with friends is always something to look forward to! How are Marla and her husband doing these days? I have not forgotten their personal tragedy, and maybe I am feeling especially sympathetic today as it is the 8th anniversary of Steve's death.
Anyway, wonderful blue sky and a particularly sweet picture of gorgeous George :-)

    1. Thank you for asking about Marla! She and her husband are doing very well. I've begun to suspect that she's keeping a secret these days...we shall see. :)

Take care of yourself during this sad anniversary of Steve's passing. Hugs to you, my friend.

  8. Always good to get the housework done! Now, could you come and do mine? Thank you!
Sweet dog, he looks as if he is saying, "I love you for giving me this nice bedding!"

    1. I could (and probably should) easily do another whole day of housework and still wouldn't be totally done. Sigh. I wish I didn't dislike it so much!

Thanks for stopping by and leaving a comment! :)
