Is it Friday yet?

This week is dragging on and on. Friday is a half day at school; and next week is Spring Break, so after Friday we don't go back until April 9th. You'd think, with the way the days usually fly by, that this week would be a breeze. Wrong! Everyone is losing patience with being there, students, teachers, and staff alike, and tempers are short all around. Maybe it's spring fever? Who knows.

My husband has been in a funk, too. When he's got something on his mind he turns silent and withdraws and won't tell me what's wrong. It can be mildly upsetting to me, although after all these years as a couple (twenty all together) I know the best thing to do is leave him alone and let him work out whatever it is. He'll talk about it when he's ready. I suspect it's his oncologist appointment next week, possibly combined with some lingering grief for his mom. Her birthday is coming up.

The house is kind of messy, too. I didn't want to do much housework over my birthday, and Gregg has been working extra hours some evenings, so things have gotten kind of funky around here, fast. After unusually irritating days at work, I haven't felt like doing much after I get home and so dinner on the table and a maintenance load of laundry is about all I've got left in me. Sigh. I hate a messy house.

The only fun part of this week so far occurred last night when I discovered via a friend's Facebook post that the third season of Better Call Saul had landed on Netflix! I love this show, and we binge watched half the new season in one sitting. Greedy pigs, we are! It's a prequel to one of my favorite shows of all time, AMC's Breaking Bad, and has the same great directors and writers (and even some of the characters!) We'll probably finish season 3 tonight. So that's been the bright spot in this crappy week so far.

Is it Friday yet?

  1. Could you afford a house cleaner to come in once a week or so? I swear, I think that if I had done that, my life would have been completely different.
    In a good way.

  2. Try to think of something fun to do next week when you are off. Go someplace that you and your husband both enjoy after his appointment. Make the most of each day.

I love Better Call Saul. It is on AMC and I am waiting for its fourth season. I expect that it will be starting soon. It is nice to know that it is on Netflix also. I never saw Breaking Bad nor wanted to see it because of its violence, but BCS has not gotten too much into that yet.

  3. I think you are probably right that your husband is still grieving the loss of his mother. Grief work is hard.

  4. My studio is destroyed and has been for about six + months. I am really trying to clean and not just fluff up. So now to clean I have to declutter my supplies, drawers and shelves. Boring ! So it is messier that ever. So I understand a messy house. Plus who wants to clean on their Birthday really !
But do something fun over break weather permitting. Local fair, garden supply, nursery, gallery and a coffee. And of course many treats and binge watching your favorite shows. Sounds good to me.
I didn't watch Breaking Bad but everyone did and loved it. Too much drugs, violence, shooting for me. I have heard Better Call Saul is really good and many of my friends love it. I have Netflix, Amazon and Acorn also but watching TV is tiring for me. So I really don't watch many TV shows, even when I can. I am so boring

    cheers, parsnip

  7. Your spring break falls during the same week as ours! Not to gloat, but we get Friday entirely off -- so I'm just dragging myself through the rest of today!

I hate a messy house too, so I can sympathize.

We watched the first season of "Better Call Saul" and I liked it but Dave didn't, so we never moved on to the rest of the series. Maybe I'll get him to try it again.

  9. Our neighbors hired a cleaning service once week as a treat for themselves. You two have been through a lot of personal stuff, perhaps you need a special treat?

  10. You work a half day on Good Friday? That is outrageous. In England no schools are open on Good Friday. It is both a religious and a public holiday. You should organise a protest demo.

  11. At least you did have a bright spot and yes, it is almost Friday. Spring is just around the corner even though we will get a few inches of snow over the next couple of days.

  12. Still haven't even checked out season 1 of Better Call Saul. I'm about to go to bed (nearly midnight here). When I wake up it will be Friday, which makes no difference to me. And I've been confused all week anyway given that it's Semana Santa and many of my friends are off from work.

  13. If you haven't watched Breaking Bad, I would recommend seeing it first. It adds so much to BCS!

    1. Oh, we've watched Breaking Bad twice through! One of the best series we've seen.

  15. i am so happy to find you through Debra's comment box my friend .Loved your daily simple sharing shining with spontaneity and dignity :)

either my husband is silent when something is going on his head ,in early married years it was hard to face such weird situations but now when i learned patience and realized how he can be little open about his thoughts , i am little bit succeed to make him come out of his shell and share his heart!

friday is half day here either and specially major parts of markets are closed !

i am 48 and have quite big house which is tough to keep maintain and tidy specially when you live in near desert area and dust is all over in the breeze .
i do try my best to keep things composed and clean and this constant efforts have made me sick in many ways.
wishing you best of luck for each step you take my friend!
