Winter storm approaching

It looks like we're going to get some snow next week, as well as super cold temperatures lasting from Tuesday through Thursday. Some longer range forecasts are also predicting an ice storm next Friday night.

    1. It's going to be awfully cold, but lots of people are excited to see a real snow. Especially kids!

  2. I don't mind the cold ... I am not bothered by snow ... I don't want the ice!!

  3. It was suddenly very cold here yesterday, but no snow. Get those winter thermals out.

  4. Were supposed to get some snow in the early morning here..3-6inches. And bitter cold all week, like as in teens for the daytime. I plan to make gingerbread pancakes and a full breakfast tomorrow.

If you get the snow, you and Greg should throw caution to the wind and go out and make snow angels I SAY.

    1. Gingerbread pancakes? Sounds delicious! I'm heading out to meet two friends for breakfast this morning, and I can't decide between pancakes and eggs benedict.

  5. 14F is -10C - that really IS cold...! I didn't even know it can ever get that cold in your part of the world. We have -5C/23F as I am typing this, but it's a sunny morning sky of winter pastels - looking beautiful, but being too cold for me to want a walk.
I hope the storm, snow and ice won't cause any damage to your house and in your neighbourhood! Is your school going to be closed in these conditions?

    1. It's rare to see temps this low here, but not unheard of. Yes, absolutely, our school will be closed. We may go in Tuesday (Monday is MLK day, so a holiday) but I doubt we go back the rest of the week after that.

  6. This is unbelievable, especially for your neck of the woods. I picked a bad week to visit NYC, it seems.

    2. That would be wonderful! This year I’m hardly seeing anyone. Too unsure about how I’ll be feeling. Next year, yes!

    1. Luckily, we have gas logs and a gas stove, so we'll be warm and able to cook should the power go out. It's going to be a good week to stay cozy at home!

  8. It seems that Almighty God needs to express his anger about the investiture that is about to happen in Washington D.C.. What better way to do it than with ice and cold? As Shakespeare's Richard III said, "Now is the winter of our discontent".

    1. The best thing about the weather in DC tomorrow is that they had to move the travesty indoors and a LOT of magas who bought tickets and booked flights and reserved rooms are SOL. That gives my cold shriveled heart a twinge of joy.

  10. It's supposed to be below zero here in Illinois but no snow. I believe that school will be closed on Tuesday because of the weather but my grandsons have "E learning" when school is closed, so they still get some work to do on their computers.

    1. The kids in our district do E-learning when school is closed, too.

  11. Do you think school will be closed? Believe it or not, they are talking about closing our local schools due to the distant possibility of snow. We're snow virgins here!

  12. I think you have our winter weather--and although I would like a bit of winter, I'm fine with no lowland snow.

  14. If it's any consolation, our temps will be a quarter those. You stay warm!

  15. I suspect you'll have some days off. The schools will close, don't you think? We have a winter storm watch from Tuesday evening to Wednesday afternoon, with some snow and ice expected. Jacksonville is going to fall apart! I won't leave the house. I know how to drive on snow/ice. The natives here don't. Stay warm!

    Love,

    1. The drivers here are terrible no matter the weather. But ice and snow make it so much worse. I'll be staying IN.
