Mean Face

The face of feathered terrorism.

Marco insisted on coming out of his cage as soon as I walked in the door today. He got on my shoulder and was good for a little while...but then I sat down at the computer for a little bit of relaxation. That's when the devil came out to play. He jumped down onto the desk and started flinging crap to the floor (including a half full bottle of ginger ale) and making a huge mess. When I went to stop him, he actually growled at me and wouldn't let me pick him up! I took this photo right before throwing a dish towel over his head so I could take him back to his cage without getting bitten.

As soon as I put him in there, he climbed up to the front corner, looked me dead in the eye, and said "I love you. I love you, baby."

 The little shit.

    1. He can act just like an a-hole cat. Sweet and cuddly one minute, the devil the next!

  2. I suspect that "I love you, baby" was a sarcastic commentary on your interruption of his fun. Shame on you, Marco. Be kind to the mama who feeds you.

    Love,

    1. Oh, yeah, he's a sarcastic little piece of work! Ten years on, and I still marvel at his intelligence.

    1. Canaries would be nice! (But I clean up all the bird poop I can stand as it is).

  7. That's the first time I've heard you be critical of poor Marco. Maybe he was just having a bad day!.

    1. No, he gets in these moods fairly often. I'll have to post more about our adventures with a willful parrot so you'll understand his personality a little more! :)

    1. It made me laugh, too! Sometimes it gets to be a bit much, but usually it's really funny. Life with a parrot!

  9. Like Sue, it made me laugh - but I bet it was not so funny when it happened, and you had to clean up the mess (including ginger ale on the floor).

    1. This house has light colored carpet, NOT the thing to have with pets. It's so dirty I'm embarrassed by it...but it was funny!

  12. I understand that in California pet owners hire therapists for their pets. Marco may have "issues" that only a trained parrot therapist will be able to unravel.

  13. Ha! A long time ago, we had a yellow-naped Amazon parrot named Sherlock. We hand-reared him and he could be the sweetest thing and the biggest shit.

    1. Only another parrot owner can really understand life with them! An Amazon--whew--I don't think I could handle living with one of those. Eclectus known for their gentle docility (as parrots go). When Amazons get hormonal they can be very, very hard to live with.

I love the name Sherlock, btw!!!!

    1. He had been home alone for several hours and had too much pent-up energy! When he's bored he loves to go on a rampage and trash the joint! Haha!

  15. He needs another bird to not feel alone.
