Spring is coming

I paid a visit to Forest Lake Greenhouses on Saturday afternoon and spent a happy hour browsing and dreaming of my future garden.

There's nothing like a trip to a plant nursery in late winter/early spring to lift the spirits.

Today my friend Martina stopped by for a couple of hours and she left a seed/plant catalog she saved to give to me. Our first thunderstorm of the season is on its way and I'm settling in like this tonight:

I love a good seed catalog this time of year!

Anyone else ready for spring?

  2. I have the same catalog! And I spent some time in my garden today, getting ready for spring planting.
Right now we are under tornado warnings. March is definitely coming in like a lion. Geez.

  5. I love that seed catalog and guess where I was today, at a local plant store. I bought a six pack of purple primroses to put in pots on the patio.

  6. Yes, I am definitely ready for spring, and very much enjoy seeing and hearing what signs there already are! Hopefully, the flowers that are out already won't all be killed by some icy rain like two years ago when we lost so much crop in orchards and on fields.

  7. I didn't know it was supposed to rain yesterday and then BAM it was right on top of us.
Glad I chose to be settled in anyway.

  10. Our spring is springing here, although we're having a bit of a cold snap at the moment. I haven't planted any of my seeds yet and I'm thinking I need to get those trays going indoors. Maybe this coming weekend? I LOVE those poppies!

  12. I started my seeds today (inside) and am hoping for an early and good spring.

Doing your first garden in your new home is so exciting. Check around your property and see if any sprouts are coming up as the former owner might have things planted that are not visible in the winter or even in the early spring. You might find some jems.

  13. We've (aka Jerry) have never had much patience for seeds. But I LOVE spending any time I can in a nursery.
