The weekend in pictures

The view from our local library's entrance. Three friends and I went to the annual "Big  Book Sale" first thing Saturday morning, then had breakfast afterwards.
Friend Karen waiting for me to finish taking a few photos.

Martina came over Saturday night, and here is some of the food we had. She brought the gorgeous berries.

Food sent home with Martina for her husband, Will. Two kinds of cheeses, guacamole, chicken salad, and fruit.

Having drinks on the porch with me last night!

Ginger loves Martina and hated to see her leave.

On the porch this morning with one of the books I bought at the sale yesterday.

A few of the herbs and flowers I'm growing on the porch.

On March 10th, I planted the pomegranate that had been living in a pot for years beside the window looking out from our den. It's been growing noticeably since going in the ground. I took that picture this morning.

  1. Great photos. Everything is looking so nice.
Be careful with the Pomegranate tree mine got so big we had to move it. The are used as shade and wind barriers here in Arizona.
Hope Greg is feeling better today.

    cheers parsnip

    1. Hi Gayle! I've never heard of a pomegranate getting that big around here! I'm planning to plant another to increase the chances of fruiting.

Gregg is ok. He still has some pain, but he finally saw his doctor friend (the pulmonary specialist who saved his life 8 years ago) and told him about these latest troubles. He asked Gregg why he had not called him and told him, and Gregg reminded him that he's always been careful not to impose on their friendship for medical advice. Which he assured him was nonsense, whipped out his laptop, and studied all of Gregg's test results on the spot. He's not only a doctor of some local renown, he's now on the board of directors at the hospital. He told Gregg he's going to have the best kidney and heart specialists he knows going over everything and getting back to us! We are blessed with his friendship, and Gregg has been very reassured now that his friend is looking out for him. :)

    1. Right now, I just have rosemary, lavender, basil, and parsley. Eventually I hope to have a small bed of perennial herbs beside the porch, and I'll grow annual herbs each year along with vegetables in raised beds.

    1. It really was nice! My porch is rapidly becoming my favorite part of the house.

Gregg is lucky to have his doctor friend. I hope all this blows over soon and nothing is too seriously wrong. I'm still pretty worried about him.

  13. I hope your pomegranate it likes its new home well enough to produce fruit! (Just saw your comment above about planting another -- I guess you need two to cross-pollinate?)
