Another one of those days

Lucky me! I started feeling the unmistakable signs of a UTI yesterday afternoon right before I left work. Talk about a miserable night! I went to the doctor this morning and had my self-diagnosis confirmed, and a prescription was called in for me. Hopefully I'll have some relief soon. In the meantime I have a massive headache, so along with the antibiotic I took some ibuprofen. In the next few minutes I'll be headed back to bed for a good long nap--if Marco will cooperate and stay quiet for a couple of hours, that is.

Of course, I had to call in sick to work today. I'm sure the two most catty, backbiting, gossipy women who work in the office with me are having to help fill in, and I'm equally sure they're both complaining and trash-talking me. They do with everyone else, after all. Oh well. As long as I'm on good terms with the principal (and I am) then that's all that really matters. I almost never call in sick, and he knows that, but I still got a note from the doctor to excuse the absence.

To add to all this fun, last night we realized that the water coming out of our pipes is light brown! After getting in touch with a couple of neighbors, I found out that such was the case in the whole neighborhood. I called the after-hours emergency number at the water department last night, and then the regular number this morning. The woman I spoke with today told me that they're aware of the problem and would be coming out to fix it. In the meantime, we're using bottled water for drinking. Who knows what's coming out of the tap right now!

What a day it's been, and it's not even noon yet!

  1. Mine will get brownish when they flush the fire hydrants up the street. Hope the Ibuprofen helps!

    1. That's exactly what happened here! They had apparently flushed the hydrants yesterday. I never knew about that.

  4. May those antibiotics kick in with a vengeance! Of course then you'll need to treat the yeast infection they cause if you're like me. Which I hope you're not.
Poor girl! UTI's are the most miserable. And not having drinkable tap water is horrible too. These are NOT first world problems. They are real ones.

    1. Yeast infections, oh yes. Every single time I take antibiotics it's a problem. Luckily the doctor went ahead and prescribed a pill to take if (when) it happens.

  5. Who cares what those co-workers are saying?! You have a right to time off for your illness, and that's all that matters. (Say I, who also called in sick today.)

Hope you feel better soon and the water problem gets quickly solved!

    1. Those two coworkers have been icing me out this year so far. I have no idea why, but unless it's necessary they don't look at me or speak to me. They hang out and gossip behind closed office doors all day. It's been really hurting my feelings lately. I hate admitting that because it makes me feel like I'm back in grade school with a bunch of mean girls at age 46. I mostly ignore them back, but it's gotten increasingly uncomfortable and unpleasant.

    1. Things are improving today. It's sunny outside for the first time in two weeks so that helps to lift the mood, at least! Thank you.

  8. If you can make it over here, I will take you down to the local pub and buy you two or three pints of Tetley's bitter. That should make you feel better Jennifer. We can also have a long conversation about this and that, parrots, dogs and granddaughters etc.. I am sure Gregg won't mind. You can take him back a Gregg's sausage roll or two.

  13. When the pain from a UTI begins, you can take AZO, an OTC pain reliever that you can get at most pharmacies. It will turn your pee orange, but the test for the UTI can still be done. I keep a supply in my house, just in case.

    Love,
    Janie

  14. Sorry to read you're not well and have other worries, too. As for work - exactly what the others have said and what you say yourself; your boss knows you are reliable and not skipping work, but really ill. What your gossipy colleagues say won't matter, as I am sure the others know what these two are like, too. And your health matters most!

Hope you are on the mend. Keep those fluids moving. ;)

  18. It's reading of colleagues like that which make me glad my work days are long over - it is all so childish isn't it. I hope by the time youare reading these comments your tablets are kicking in and you are improving. And hope Marco has been considerate.

  20. Being Herpes Patient can be one of the most difficult experiences you go through in life. You may feel scared, sad or even angry – this is OK, and a completely natural part of coping with something that can be life changing.
It will probably take a while for the news to sink in. My name is Janey cooker and i am from the United States, I remember spending so much money buying drugs from hospitals hoping that I will be cured from HERPES INFECTION, but all to no avail.
