Monday quickie

 Apropos of my last post....

I would hate to leave you all with the impression that my book club has huge fancy spreads of food like that on a regular basis. Olenka is crazy--in the best possible way, of course! She loves to entertain, has free time and money to burn, and in this case she hadn't had a chance to host the group in almost two years thanks to Covid. So she did a little extra, even for her. It's definitely not the norm! Several members of the group (the ones who don't like to cook and aren't especially keen on entertaining) will empty a few bags of chips and crackers into bowls, open some jars of salsa and dip, and call it a day. We have fun either way.

What's not fun is that Gregg had to go get a big chunk of flesh cut out of his face today! He'd developed a small tan mole beside his nose that turned out to a deep (and wide) patch of skin cancer. There's a huge bandage on his face right now, and they warned him he'll probably end up with a lot of swelling and a black eye by tomorrow. He can't lift anything or do any vigorous activity for the next 5 days. In fact, the dermatologist told him to take the rest of the week off.

I'm taking tomorrow off to be with him. His spirits are pretty low tonight, and I think he needs a little extra TLC.

Back tomorrow...

Hope he feels better, dealing with the unexpected is never good.

I think we're all cheering for Gregg. His recurring little cancers are a bummer.

I'm sending positive vibes into the universe for Gregg. I didn't think you had such lovely food all the time. If it were my house it would probably be cans of soda and Oreos.

Love,
Janie

I'm glad you are able to stay home tomorrow with Gregg. Having you there will lift his spirits and allow him to rest more. Give him my best for a speedy recovery!

Coincidentally my dear niece has had exactly the same procedure in what sounds to be exactly the same place earlier today. Very best wishes.

I think it is both of you that need a little extra TLC these days - you for the work situation, and Gregg for his health. Hopefully, the swelling won't be too bad and some time off work will do him good. All the best for you two!

As for the book club - I know exactly what you mean. In my circle of "girls", we have types like me who love to entertain but are not great at making food for a larger number of people, and we have those who are accomplished cooks and will prepare the most wonderful meals for us. What matters is that we spend time together, and as this has not been really possible in such a long time, this coming Friday night at my place will be great, no matter the food (ordered from the Thai restaurant just up the road) and drink (largely contributed by my visitors)!

So sorry about Gregg’s latest. He can make up some good stories about what you did to him.

Oh dear, poor Gregg...hope he will soon feel better. Try and enjoy your day off! Glad to hear that a feast fit for a king is not the norm at your book club. Makes me feel better with my bowls of crisps!! ( chips)

Best wishes to Gregg for a speedy recovery! He can tell people he was in a bar brawl if they wonder about his bruises!

Gregg is smart to have gone to the dermatologist when he did. I know this is worrisome and no wonder he is low. He is lucky to have you to take good care of him.

Sending healing thoughts your way for a speedy recovery for Gregg. Good you can take a day off to pamper him (and yourself too!)

Oh, best wishes to Gregg! I'm glad you can spent the day with him.

So sorry about Gregg! Here's hoping he heals up quickly!

I think the swelling has peaked out, now, at least. Thanks Steve!

I wish I could take off the whole week with him.

It was a good day, and needed! Thank you!

It's been a low week for both of us, honestly. We're both kind of blue. The rainy, chilly, nasty weather today isn't helping!

Ha! I told my friend Little P. that when we see him Sunday night (his mom will bring him here to trick or treat) to ask Gregg if I had beaten him up!

Speaking of chips (crisps), I ate a big bag of them all by myself last night. It was a salt feast after a rough day! Haha.

I told little P. to ask him if "Mrs. Barlow" had punched him in the eye! LOL!

(He'll be coming over on Halloween).

Yes, it's the gathering of friends that really matters! I hope you have a wonderful time tomorrow night!

Thanks as always for your kind wishes. :)

Thank you Weaver!

Will do, Bonnie! Thanks!

Add in something salty, and soda and Oreos would suit me fine! :)

They are, but he's faced much worse.

("Faced" haha)

Thank you so much, Joanne!

He's coming along. It's hard for him to be off work, especially since he can't do much lifting. He doesn't know what to do with himself!

Poor Gregg! I hope he heals up nicely. Co-incidentally I went into a branch of Greggs last evening before the book talk and purchased a steak slice and a sausage roll with a can of Diet Coke. Not the most nutritious meal I have ever had but tasty - like your Gregg.

Goodness ! Hope Gregg feels better soon. This has not been a good month for many of us.

I love it when the doc says take the week off; I get to use this for shriving out of anything.
