Worse than I thought

It's the middle of another sleepless night. I almost went to the emergency room last night, I was struggling so to breathe. I managed to hold out until my doctor's appointment yesterday, and it turns out I'm sicker than I thought. My oxygen levels were low, not dangerously so, but low enough to cause serious discomfort. The doctor was slightly appalled at how long I had waited to get help. She gave me a breathing treatment right away, and although it made me feel a little better, it didn't improve my oxygen level much at all. The wheezing and congestion in my lungs was terrible.

I have a chest x-ray scheduled later this morning to check for pneumonia. In the meantime, she sent me home with 5 different prescriptions to begin taking. If I have pneumonia I may end up being admitted to the hospital. I certainly hope that won't happen. I feel awful, though, and I'll do whatever I need to do to get better.

Thanks to everyone for your good wishes and kind words. It means a lot to me. I'll try to update again later today.

Oh no, poor you!! At least the problem is now being tackled. Your approach is sensible and I hope the medication will help, and the results of your x-ray won't mean you have to go to hospital. But if need be, of course you will go.

At least you may be pin pointing an issue. I sure hope all goes good this morning. And take any puppy kisses you can.

I hope the medicines will help your breathing very quickly. Thank goodness you were able to see the doctor when you did.

So sorry to hear about the possible diagnosis. My sister-in-law was very ill with Covid pneumonia, and her treatment was bed rest with meds at home.

I hope you get some answers today and things start to improve!

Glad you went to the Docto r- it was obviously more than necessary. I hope it turns out to be not as bad as you think.

I'm hoping by the time you read this, your breathing will be much improved. Take care.

Big Hugs. Not squeezing too hard, because, you know, breathing. Hoping for the best, sweetie.

This happened to a friend of mine recently. They put him on steroids.

Oh no Jennifer! I am so sorry to hear this. Keep us posted and rest. I am sure the heat doesn't help matters either.

I have gone to Spam!

I just went and marked your comment as "not spam". Blogger is up to its tricks again, I see. Sigh. Anyway, thank you for the good wishes Neil. I'm feeling a bit better now.

So many I know have breathing problems in this terrible weather, but they're older than you! Take care; get better.

Poor you. As a child I was seriously asthmatic, and I used to think I was dying; so I know how you must feel. I hope you start to feel better very soon.

So glad that you are now getting medical help. Hope that you will soon feel better and not have to go to hospital.

I haven't heard back from my xray, but I'm feeling a whole lot better today so it looks like I won't be going to the hospital. What a relief!

George and Poppy have been so sweet! Except they're both a little stir crazy from not going on walks. Still, I'd pass out if I tried to walk them in this heat.

I seem to be on the mend. Thank you for stopping by and for the good wishes!

Last night I got my first decent night's sleep in a week or more. I'm breathing much easier. Thank you Susie!

Jennifer said...

I'm thinking I might have had Covid and just didn't know. The doctor said it's been so long since my symptoms started that it would probably be useless to test for it at this point.

Jennifer said...

I haven't heard back about the xray, but I'm feeling a whole lot better.

You're always so kind and supportive, Mary. I really appreciate you. xx

Jennifer said...

I appreciate those healing thoughts!

I'm doing everything in my power to get better. Not being able to breathe well is very, very distressing.

Jennifer said...

I seem to be improving rapidly. What a relief!

I'm not a great fan of our primary care doctor, normally she doesn't seem all that concerned when we have a problem, but she did better for me this time. Thank goodness.

Jennifer said...

I still have a little slight wheezing, but overall I'm much better than I was. Thanks Melinda.

Jennifer said...

I'll take any hugs, hard or not! Thank you.

Jennifer said...

I really have been miserable. Beyond miserable. I'm hoping I'm truly on the mend now.

Jennifer said...

I really appreciate that!

Jennifer said...

Thank you Neil! I seem to be on the mend, so maybe I'll be able to start enjoying my break. This next school year promises to be challenging in a lot of ways, and I need a good mental break from it all before I tackle whatever comes next.

Jennifer said...

She gave me lots of prescriptions, and so far they seem to be doing the trick. Thank you my friend!

Jennifer said...

Yes, same here. I'll be taking steroids (prednisone) for two weeks.

Jennifer said...

The heat makes it all so much worse! I'm pretty tired of sitting darkened rooms, in the a/c, but it's necessary at the moment. Thanks Michael.

Jennifer said...

This heat and high humidity makes it hard for anyone to breathe, much less folks with asthma. I'll be glad to see fall come around, which makes me sad because I WANT to enjoy summer, but the heat makes it nearly impossible.

Jennifer said...

Asthma is scary and after a while, it wears you down. Thank you for your kind words, Cro.

Jennifer said...

It looks like I'll be avoiding the hospital. Thank goodness!

Jennifer said...

Of course I shouldn't leave things so long, but getting appointments or going to Urgent Care is always SUCH a hassle, and so expensive (even with insurance) that sometimes it's easier to try to wait it out and treat yourself at home. Of course that's sometimes a really bad idea!

Jennifer said...

Thank you so much, Yael. I hope you're doing well these days. xx

Moving with Mitchell said...

I forget about the expense, since we don’t pay for any of that here. Ridiculous. Keeping good thoughts for you.

By reading some of the comments, it seems as if you are feeling better! I hope it continues!
