Starting over

Sunday afternoon I dug out some strands of white lights and very gingerly stuck them in the branches of the Christmas tree...without taking stuff off the tree first. I'm not happy with the result. It's way too dim, and the ornaments look all disarranged and wonky, and the lights themselves are a cool white when I prefer warmer white lights. Since the tree is one of my favorite parts of the holiday season, I'm going to redo it all.

This morning after I finish my coffee, I'm going to take a shower and head out to buy some new string lights. Then, later this afternoon, I'm going to take all the ornaments off and have the tree stripped bare by the time Gregg gets off work. I'll get him to help me add the new lights and then redecorate the tree. It's going to be a little work, but then it will be fixed, and I'll be happier. I don't want an ugly, dim tree!

So, that's how we're going to resolve the tree issue. Thanks to everyone who left a comment on my last post. I'm just grateful we didn't find out about the issue by having a fire!

Whew, well that's your day then! So glad that you noticed the hot lights, too. Christmas fires are way too common. Your tree will bring immeasurable joy to your fa-la-la's - George and Poppy will be happy too, because you just know that Santa will not bring treats to pups with ugly trees on fire.

I'm grateful you didn't have a fire, too. I'm sure you made the right decision. Christmas doesn't feel right to me without my preferred kind of lights on the tree.

Love,
Janie

Yes, I’m so glad you were home. Tragedy averted. I had a feeling you’d redo it all.

I think you made the right decision. As someone who's trim trees for years, it's always better take everything off the tree, and makes things much easier. I'm with you when it comes to white lights and colored lights I like the warm ones better than the LEDs. We got a new tree at my mother's this year that has colored LEDs and it's taking me forever to get used to it. But we agreed we both Miss colored lights after doing White for years on end, and myself doing all red for years on end.

Good on you for not settling, opting instead to redo.

Even I, with my Grinchy old heart, am pleased to know that once again your tree will be bright and beautiful. AND THAT YOUR HOUSE DIDN'T BURN DOWN!

You did what I would have done, too. Good job, really, that you noticed the heat before anything bad happened!
I plan to set up my tree tonight after work.
