Notes from Thanksgiving eve

Last night I spent several hours prepping food for our two-person feast. Here are the highlights:

RIP to my almost 20 year old corkscrew. Thank you for your service, friend.

Poppy, bored and unattended while I worked in the kitchen, found some mischief to get up to. No turkey for her! Haha.

I made deviled eggs. They're Gregg's favorite and no holiday meal would be complete without them!

I also went ahead and made my cranberry mandarin orange relish with toasted walnuts (it's better after sitting in the fridge overnight), peeled carrots, and chopped celery and onions for the dressing. I also washed and chopped two big bundles of collard greens so they'd be ready to go.

This morning I can sip a leisurely cup of coffee or three before beginning, thanks to all the prep work I did last night.

Happy Thanksgiving to all who celebrate!

I am so grateful I got so much done yesterday. My turkey is already in the oven, my greens are cooked and waiting to be heated up. My biscuit dough is in the refrigerator, waiting to be rolled out and baked. And so forth. Feels good. Happy Thanksgiving to you and your dear Gregg!

You got your money's worth out of that corkscrew! And Poppy got $5 worth of fun out of that bill. Happy Thanksgiving!

Enjoy your Thanksgiving! Early prep is the way to go, for sure. I've never had collard greens but I could eat that whole plate of deviled eggs. I love them!

Happy Thanksgiving to you and Gregg, dear Jennifer!
Those deviled eggs... I count 15, so one half must have gone straight to quality control :-)
There are going to be plenty of leftovers, I guess, from your description of the food for just two people. Don't you just love it when you can prepare delicious meals for days, combining various leftovers?
I hope you had a spare corkscrew to open that bottle (and maybe others). I am not very good with them, and nowadays more often than not our wine comes in bottles with screw caps.

Hope you had a great Thanksgiving! Poppy's mischief was a bit expensive! Couldn't she at least have chosen a single?

The last time I dog-sat the naughty terrier ate a $20 bill of mine. I was hoping it would pass through undigested like money passes through the washing machine but I guess he digested it!
Happy Thanksgiving season (day after, now) to you and your family—Marco too! 😊

I hope you enjoyed your Thanksgiving dinner. Poppy was looking for a way to help and thought that chewing on extra pieces of green paper would be a good idea.

Love,
Janie
