Are there any other Dexter fans out there? I've been watching the new Dexter Resurrection and it's so good! * At first only getting to watch a new episode once a week bothered me (if I like a show, I'll binge watch given the chance) but it's become something to look forward to on Friday nights. We have pizza for dinner and then I have a drink or two to unwind while watching the return of one of my all-time favorite shows. The only bad part is there's only 3 episodes left, and I'll be sad when it's done. It's lots of fun!
Yesterday morning I met up with Marla for brunch. We do that once or twice a month, and it's also something to look forward to. There's a place in town that makes really good Eggs Benedict, and that's usually where we go. This time she brought Carsen with her, since her husband was busy with something out of town. She's growing up fast, and is a real cutie.
When we were leaving, I said, "Thanks for coming to breakfast with us, Carsen!" and she replied (with a cheeky grin) "It was my only option." haha!
*This new series is so well written, it reminds me of the first several seasons of the original. Peter Dinklage, Uma Thurmond, and Neil Patrick Harris are all guest stars, David Zayas is back as Angel Batista, and Michael C. Hall is amazing as usual.
Okay I'm glad I clicked over here. I heard the same good thing about this new Dexter series, but I've never seen the original show. I asked a friend who's a big fan if I needed to see the old stuff first, and she said yes. So this Saturday I began watching season 1 that first aired in 2006. By the time I get to the new series, it will be ancient history!
ReplyDeleteAnd when you finish the first series (by the way, the last year or two of the original SUCKED especially when compared to the first three or four years) be sure and watch Dexter: New Blood before moving on to Resurrection. In New Blood he meets back up with his son, and it's pretty good too!
DeleteYou're in for a treat!!
Thanks Jennifer, I just added New Blood to my list ahead of Resurrection 👍🙂
DeleteI LOVELOVELOVE Dexter and hope this new series isn't a one off; I hope there are going to be more seasons.
ReplyDeleteI've heard they're planning at least 3!
DeleteYES!!!
DeleteGood recommendation- Peter Dinklege is my fave! I would watch that- looks better than the first lot!
ReplyDeleteThe first series was great until the last season or two...then it went totally off the rails. Resurrection feels like those first seasons of the original, and Peter Dinklege is one of my favorites, too!
DeleteI burst out laughing at Carson. The stuff they pop out with!
ReplyDeleteCrazy kids!
DeleteWe no longer have TV here in France, just a 'Roku' plug-in device that has YouTube on it. I shall have to look if Dexter is there.
ReplyDeleteNot on YouTube, unfortunately. But the original is on Netflix.
DeleteI have never heard of "Dexter", but if it's on Netflix, I may have a look.
ReplyDeleteOver the past year or so, I have developed a liking of shorter series, 6 to 8 parts. I watch exactly ONE episode per night, and like you say about your Friday nights, it is something to look forward to. After that, I retreat to bed and read a little before lights out - for me, the best way to get to sleep (unless the family in the attic flat decide to practise River Dance at 11:00 pm... or at least that's what it sounds like sometimes!!).
Carsen is not only growing at high speed and very cute, she is also learning real fast :-D
I'm pretty sure the original is on Netflix. I'm re-discovering the joys of watching a show one at a time, just like we did before streaming! I'll have to find a new show when this season of DR finishes up.
DeleteCarsen really is growing up fast, but then, all kids do. :)
We tried watching Dexter when it first came out and weren’t in the right frame of mind for it. Too ugly. We watched in recent years and loved it although it felt weaker towards the end. I look forward to the resurrection. Carsen is adorable and what a wit!
ReplyDeleteAs I've said in other comments here, the last couple of years of the original were absolute crap. Resurrection is awesome, though! And Carsen was in rare form Sunday, being silly and adorable.
DeleteI enjoyed Dexter for a long time, but then it began to be tiresome so I never got to the eventual end. The sequel sounds good, though.
ReplyDeleteThe sequel is really good so far!
DeleteIn all my years, I have never watched "Dexter". Now with all of the streaming services, etc, it is hard to know about any shows that are on. Thanks for the recommendation.
ReplyDeleteYou'd probably like it, depending on your taste. Did you watch Six Feet Under? I love Michael C. Hall.
DeleteI never watched that either!!
DeleteAnd crap, Labor Day is what? Only 3 weeks away?
ReplyDeleteToo far away! August is dragging at work.
DeleteI think Carsen and Maggie might get along quite well.
ReplyDeleteThat's really possible! God, why can't all the bloggers I love live nearby so we could all hang out? You could come over with Maggie and Marla could bring Carsen and we'd all have a great time drinking martinis on the porch. Well, the women could drink martinis...I'd make virgin daiquiris and pina coladas for the little girls. :)
DeleteDexter always sounded a bit scary to me so I've never watched it.
ReplyDeleteThat Carsen is a cutie!
It's not really scary, although a bit grisly at times! I'm a real weenie when it comes to horror, and I wouldn't watch anything scary. :) And the dark humor is great.
DeleteCarsen is hilarious!
I'm a huge Dexter fan, and Resurrection looks sooooo good, but I don't have access to any of the Where to Watch, don't want to pay for the subscription.
ReplyDeleteDuring Prime Days, there was an offer of Paramount+ for only 99 cents for two months, so I signed up knowing the new Dexter was about to begin. I'll cancel as soon as the season ends (although the new season of South Park has been GOLD!). I wish you lived nearby. I'd come over and sign into my account and we could watch together, my treat! :)
DeleteYou know, I could never get into Dexter. I tried a couple of times but it was just so grisly. Maybe I should give it a go again. I'm not a TV ninny, I swear!
ReplyDeleteMy weekends are flying by, too. Adapting to the work week is no fun!
It can be a bit grisly, but never truly scary, and the dark humor is my favorite part. Plus I adore Michael C. Hall. :)
Deleteho ho ho I had enough of Mr. Dexter in the first season to last for a lifetime.
ReplyDeleteOkay.
DeleteI loved Dexter when it first came out, but got lost after the mysterious brother popped up and was killed. Sounds like I'll be watching this latest version, though! You know the one I'd love to see them reprise? Dead Like Me. Wow!
ReplyDeleteWhat is that thing coming over the bench behind Carsen's head? You should have whacked it before it had the opportunity to bite her. Is it a raccoon? I have never heard of "Dexter". Is it a crime drama?
