Shower gift

A young couple of our acquaintance are expecting their first child, a boy. I was invited to the baby shower, but decided to just send a gift without attending. So I bought a giant box of diapers and made them a diaper cake that will double as a table centerpiece.

Dad is a hunter, and is eagerly looking forward to taking his son with him one day. I decided that a hunting theme would be appropriate for the "cake". This is what I came up with.

What do you think? I sure hope they like it! (And even if they don't the diapers will come in handy).

They will love it!

My goodness- that is just fabulous!!!! I have made much smaller and simpler diaper cakes and it is crazy how labor intensive the diaper portion is. And it is not inexpensive to make, either. That is really sensational!

Splendid! That takes some doing, creativity and talent! Super job! I would never undo it- stash. it somewhere and bring it out when he has his first hunting trip, hoping like hell he is a bad shot....and still has a use for diapers.

I've heard a diaper cakes and seen them but I never saw one done in a theme. Oh my God it's stunning and cute. But however will you send that? Won't that collapse if you ship it?

They live nearby and the dad will be coming by tomorrow to pick it up. It's safely nestled down in a large Rubbermaid tote for transport.

That is an amazing 'cake'. I think they should keep it for ever!

Your gift is so creative, a diaper cake. Practical too.

I was going to ask the same as Maddie and am relieved to know it will be transported safely!
The "cake" is fantastic - you seriously could do this for a living, or at least a sideline, if you wanted to supplement your income. It looks great, and the little deer will come in handy as decorations around Christmas and later as toys for the child.

Such a sweet thing to do Jennifer. How on earth did you come up with that idea?

I spent some time perusing Pinterest, typing in "hunting theme baby shower decorations" and went from there! :)

Ha! They'll be needing those diapers soon enough. lol

Thank you Meike! I'd love to do something like this for some supplemental income. I made a "castle" diaper cake for my nephew's baby last year, and just like this one, it was so fun to do! Maybe I'll consider a small side hustle. :)

I made one for my nephew's son last year. I wish someone would have a girl baby, because I've seen some of the most darling ideas for baby girl diaper cakes. :)

Steve. Because 'Steve' is almost as nice a name as 'Paul'. said...

This looks as professional as a boutique showpiece. SWEET!
