I'm glad this week is finally over. It was a sad and depressing one for a lot of reasons, and I've been looking forward to having the weekend off.
Today was cold, but beautiful. I met up with a friend for breakfast first thing in the morning, and then spent the afternoon shopping for a craft project I had planned. After dinner tonight I sat down with a glass of wine and worked on it. I'm pretty happy with how it turned out so I wanted to show it to you!
Tomorrow I'll be attending a baby shower for my pregnant friend Marla. I found this super cute gift idea for her on Pinterest.
It's a Diaper Baby Basket!
The "babies" are made with rolled up diapers, tiny newborn socks, and multi colored bibs. I added some lotions, diaper rash cream, and baby powder to the basket, too.
I hope Marla likes her gift!
What a cute idea and yours came out so wonderful.
ReplyDeletecheers, parsnip and thehamish
Thank you! I had fun making it.
DeleteThat looks lovely Jennifer - what a brilliant idea ! This side of the pond they don't use diapers (or nappies as they are called in the UK) it's all disposable these days. I like the idea of a baby shower - not something we usually have over here.
ReplyDeleteOh, the diapers are disposable! I bought a package of 30 and the extras are rolled up and lining the bottom of the box. I don't know of anyone who uses cloth diapers these days.
DeleteFunny story--I didn't think about the fact that diapers come in different sizes. So when I got home the first time I realized that the ones I bought were for kids that weigh 22-37 pounds! The baby won't weigh that much for a couple of years. I had to go back out and brave the Saturday afternoon shoppers to exchange them. Thank goodness I caught my mistake before opening the package!
I miss have some cloth diapers. They make the best wipe up for any mess that a baby would make or dogs either.
DeleteIt's a gift that's not only cute but will come in very useful, too!
ReplyDeleteI thought so, too! Typically baby shower gifts are supposed to be useful. I've been giving my friend more sentimental gifts privately--mainly books, of course!
DeleteAre those little people Sikhs or Muslims? I hope that the one in the middle isn't wearing a suicide vest. "Good work Jennifer!" as your schoolteachers would often say.
ReplyDeleteNeither, Mr. Pudding. They're 100% all-American heathen babies! Haha. They just happen to be swaddled.
Delete:)
I just texted your comment about my diaper babies to Gregg at work. He thought it was hilarious! :)
DeleteI don't feel qualified to comment on your gift, I thought everyone used Pampers (other makes are available) these days. My daughter in law certainly wouldn't know what to do with a diaper, and little Boo Boo would find it strange too. We, on the other hand, were pre Pamper parents.
ReplyDeleteLovely gift and so green and useful.
