So I'm taking a personal day to go to the dentist.
My mom laughed at me on the phone when I told her that I chose an extra day off this week rather than reschedule the appointment. I reminded her of what I said to the surgeon who took out my gallbladder a while back (resulting in three weeks off with pay): "Isn't there something else you can take? I'm not using my appendix!" She really laughed then!
Yes, it's sad. And kind of pathetic, too. You know you hate your job when even the

That is rough, to prefer being at the dentist. Funny ecard. Sometimes where I worked we would use a sick day and tell our friends it was a mental health day i.e. stay at home and read, dream, work in the garden.
Sorry, but even the word 'dentist' makes me want to crawl into a very deep hole.
I really, really hope you'll soon find a job that you like better!
Your job must be really, really bad if it's worse than a trip to the dentist!
I applaud you for your honesty - taking a personal day off rather than phoning up and lying. You need to fight against the negativity that your current job is engendering in your attitude to work. It could damage future prospects.
I hope you find a new job soon. Love the ecard.
I never feared the dentist until a year or so ago. Now after a couple of painful experiences I dread it a little bit. Yesterday I trembled like a leaf while the drilling was going on.
I never tell lies to get a day off. That's just not how I'm wired.
And hey--at least I keep a sense of humor about it all.
I've just sent out a couple more applications. I keep trying, and sooner or later something is bound to work out!
It's pretty bad. But I keep a smile on my face and continue to look for a better opportunity!
Isn't it funny?! :)
If I started taking mental health days I might never go back! Haha!
I need anesthesia just to get my teeth cleaned. I'm sorry you hate your job so much. I've been there - it's no fun.
I keep hoping that your next post will tell us you have a new job. You have a bunch of adoring fans that keep the faith. It will happen soon enough.
That's such an incredibly sweet thing to say! Doc, you just made my day! xx
Yet another temporary dentist was at the practice yesterday (my original beloved old dentist retired a while back) and to my surprise, I liked him. He normally works in a town about 30 miles away, and I may start using him if future visits to him are similarly good.
