Blue Dasher - (Pachydiplax longipennis)
|
This little guy was hanging out around our container pond yesterday. Isn't he cute? Blue Dashers are friendly little beasts and will let you get close enough to take pictures. I like this one where he was perched on one of the Blue Pickerel flowers.
The bees like our pond flowers, too.
That first photo is amazing. I love and appreciate bees, but I'm seriously allergic and they set off a little panic when I see them (that I try to control). I avoid photos!
ReplyDeleteThis little guy wasn't paying me the least bit of attention. He's not looking to sting anyone. :)
DeleteLovely Lovely Lovely.
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful pond and what I call dragonflies. He looks like a model someone dreamed up.
I am allergic to bee but I love this little fat one.
cheers, parsnip and thehamish
There are several of the Pickerel flowers blooming now and there's almost always a water lily or two flowering at the other end. I love this pond!
DeleteThe blue dasher dragonfly is amazing. I find dragonflies interesting in general...but this one is tops!
ReplyDeleteI'm having a blog catch up session on a hot summer afternoon...bearable only because it's not as humid as yesterday, and the day before, and the day... Well, you get the idea. xo
Blue Dashers are very, very common here. I have other pictures of them I've taken in the past. And they're quite friendly, too!
DeleteI've never seen one of those, the blue dasher. Isn't it so pretty. Watching dragonflies is very relaxing.
ReplyDeleteI've never seen a dragonfly that wasn't pretty. They seem to be almost symbolic of long, hot summer days. :)
DeleteWe have a short stubby dragonfly that flies around our pool; I wonder if it's the same type. I must consult my book. Beautiful creatures.
ReplyDeleteThey love to hover around water.
DeleteYet another couple of reasons why we need to install a pond! I love the blue dasher in particular. :)
ReplyDeleteI've been hoping for a frog to show up and take up residence! It's happened before. Little creatures love a water fixture no matter how large or small. :)
DeleteI admire anyone who manages to take good pictures of flying animals - birds or butterflies, dragon flies or bees! I am always too slow with my camera. Love dragon flies although I doubt I'd like them as much if I were another insect :-)
