Thankful

This is the first Thanksgiving in 17 years that I've had a real holiday with time off work. I spent today shopping and running errands in a leisurely way, and it was such a luxury!  Tomorrow I'm making a roast turkey breast with a few easy side items for our holiday meal. It will be just the two of us, enjoying the day off together, and then Friday morning we're going camping for two days. I'm so excited! I love building fires, sleeping under the stars, and spending time in the fresh air. It's going to be a perfect holiday weekend for us!

Happy Thanksgiving to my American friends. And to all my friends here, no matter where you live, please know that I'm thankful for each and every one of you!

  2. It all sounds very good and plenty to be thankful for, Jennifer - having time off, being able to do all your shopping etc. without being stressed out, preparing a festive meal to enjoy with the man you love, and then having a great weekend ahead!

  3. Have a lovely time. I read the other day that Thanksgiving in US is like our Christmas time in terms of seeing family , eating etc. Just read the story of Ginger's arrival and how she has brought you so much love....brought a tear to my eye! She sounds ( and looks ) just gorgeous. I have a 4 yr old schnauzer who is presently barking at nothing in the kitchen next to me ! (I think he might have heard a child's voice on the radio!)

  7. In the '70s, when I went from private employment to public, I was astonished by how many holidays were available, and rejoiced in it. I still, after 8 years of retirement wake up on Monday morning with a frisson of panic. We are conditioned by our daily routines. The more humane schedule of unionized public employment eased the stresses I'd come to regard as normal, but not entirely. I still wake ready to hit the ground running sometimes. Enjoy your new schedule; celebrate it.
