My sweet Ginger girl hates thunderstorms. Really hates them. I went out to lunch with a friend this afternoon, and while I was gone it started to pour rain, thunder, and lightning. I had left Ginger inside the house, and when I got home I couldn't find her...at first.
She had taken refuge inside a closet we had left open! Poor baby!
Poor Ginger, her face tells the whole story.
ReplyDeleteI know! It's those big eyes.
DeleteWe had a dog who mostly stayed outside. She had plenty of shade and shelter there and could hang out on the cool floor of the garage if she wanted but when it stormed, she would take off running and it was horrible and I can't tell you how many times I raced home, knowing that she would be panicking. Terrible memories.
ReplyDeleteOh, that's horrible. Ginger always creeps into any available hiding place, faces the wall, and wants to be left alone. That's far preferable to running away, or trembling, drooling, and pacing (I had a dog that did that during storms).
Deleteawwww sweet Ginger hope she is feeling better.
ReplyDeletecheers, parsnip
That is so sad. I hope she is feeling better now.
ReplyDeleteOur Bok is the same. He comes up to our bedroom, if he senses anything in the air, and trembles.
ReplyDeleteMy old cat was very scared of thunderstorms, too. She would hide under the bed or, if she was out and too far away from the house to run back, under someone's patio or elsewhere.
ReplyDeleteMy Mum hates thunderstorms, too, but she would not hide in a closet or under the bed :-)
Poor Ginger ! Have you heard of " thunder shirts"....I think that is what they are called, for scared dogs? It is a tight " coat" and are apparently very effective, though not used one myself on my dogs. If you look online you can see how to improvise with a scarf. Hope this might help. X
ReplyDeletePoor thing. Our cats will do that if the thunder is really loud, but they never look quite so pathetic (that look they save for construction workers).
ReplyDeleteShe looks terrified! Poor Ginger.
ReplyDeleteGreetings Maria x
Such a sweetheart! I'm glad the closet door was open to provide a safe place for her.
ReplyDeleteAwww, poor Ginger! I'm sure it was comforting for her to have that small dark space where she could retreat.
ReplyDeleteI was going to mention the scarf thing but I see Frances beat me to it. I just love the idea but I don't get to test it because Harry is completely unbothered by storms, which i guess is a good thing.
ReplyDeleteIt's a good thing there was a closet open!
I'am glad to read the whole content of this blog and am very excited,Thank you for sharing good topic.
