I took a sick day today. Yesterday I got a terrible stomach ache as soon as I got to work and ended up leaving at noon. I can't be away from my desk for more than a minute without getting someone else in the office to cover for me, since I have to answer the front door (the camera and speaker are on my desk) and buzz people in. It's a constant job at a big school like ours, and it's embarrassing to me to have to let someone know every time I have to go to the restroom. Not on a normal day, of course, but when there's an upset stomach involved.....let's just say that by 10am my coworkers were encouraging me to leave. It was painfully obvious that the best place for me was at home.
When I woke up this morning I still had a bit of a stomach ache. I decided not to risk a repeat of yesterday and just stay home. I haven't used all the sick days I had left over from last year, and it looks as if I'll carry over all 10 of the days I got this year, too. So there's no issue there.
I actually feel better now that it's approaching lunchtime. It's warm and I'm sitting outside on the porch with Marco, typing this on my phone. It's another beautiful spring day, and it feels good to spend it at home.

Very wise to go home when you're not well. Do you know whether your stomach ache was caused by a virus or something you ate? Anyway, best not risk passing it on to your coworkers or students.

I think so too. :)
I'm not sure. Gregg had a stomach virus over a week ago, so I doubt it's the same thing. The symptoms are different.
That twisty rope perch Marco is hanging on was a store bought item. He likes climbing up and down it!
Looks like Marco is enjoying your sick day as well, birds do like being with their humans.
Glad you're enjoying a day relaxing at home. Home that cures the ailing stomach.

I can't believe that you and your fellow workers have an official allowance of sick days! I hope you are feeling better today (Friday).
Those are paid sick days. If we get sick and have exceeded our days, we can stay home unpaid. I also contribute one day a year to a "leave bank" where district employees can apply for extended paid days off in case of a devastating illness (or family illness).

I hope you are all well today. It is nice to have a stash of sick days in case of need, but so necessary to take a sick day off at times. Marco's rope is pretty and looks useful for him.
I too hope you are better by now. Glad you took a day off; I wish more people did this sensible thing.
I'm glad you are better. Three of my grands had that bug, along with fever, but it was very short lived.
