The view from our local library's entrance. Three friends and I went to the annual "Big Book Sale" first thing Saturday morning, then had breakfast afterwards. |
Friend Karen waiting for me to finish taking a few photos.
|
Martina came over Saturday night, and here is some of the food we had. She brought the gorgeous berries. |
Food sent home with Martina for her husband, Will. Two kinds of cheeses, guacamole, chicken salad, and fruit. |
Having drinks on the porch with me last night! |
Ginger loves Martina and hated to see her leave. |
On the porch this morning with one of the books I bought at the sale yesterday. |
A few of the herbs and flowers I'm growing on the porch. |
Great photos. Everything is looking so nice.
ReplyDeleteBe careful with the Pomegranate tree mine got so big we had to move it. The are used as shade and wind barriers here in Arizona.
Hope Greg is feeling better today.
cheers parsnip
Hi Gayle! I've never heard of a pomegranate getting that big around here! I'm planning to plant another to increase the chances of fruiting.
DeleteGregg is ok. He still has some pain, but he finally saw his doctor friend (the pulmonary specialist who saved his life 8 years ago) and told him about these latest troubles. He asked Gregg why he had not called him and told him, and Gregg reminded him that he's always been careful not to impose on their friendship for medical advice. Which he assured him was nonsense, whipped out his laptop, and studied all of Gregg's test results on the spot. He's not only a doctor of some local renown, he's now on the board of directors at the hospital. He told Gregg he's going to have the best kidney and heart specialists he knows going over everything and getting back to us! We are blessed with his friendship, and Gregg has been very reassured now that his friend is looking out for him. :)
This sure does make me happy. What a very, very good friend!
DeleteI love your pictures. Libraries and chicken salad- two of my favorite things on earth.
the fruits look lovely; I have this book too !
ReplyDeleteGreat minds read alike! :)
DeleteThat pomegranate tree appears to have found a place where it really feels at home.
ReplyDeleteI'm so grateful to have a home where it can be planted!
DeleteThat is wonderful news about Gregg's doctor friend and expert looking out for him, what a blessing to have him on your team. I have always thought pomegranate trees and their fruit are so pretty, nice you planted yours.
ReplyDeleteOne day I'll have to write a post about our wonderful friend Vinod and lovely wife and family. I wasn't exaggerating when I said I believed that he saved Gregg's life.
DeleteGOOD FOR GREGG! what herbs are you growing? and was marco on the porch with you? today was cold and grey and rainy; it's still raining at 7p; not really porch weather for me.
ReplyDeleteRight now, I just have rosemary, lavender, basil, and parsley. Eventually I hope to have a small bed of perennial herbs beside the porch, and I'll grow annual herbs each year along with vegetables in raised beds.
DeleteIt's so pleasant to see how nicely you are settling into your new home. It's still not spring enough here for porching.
ReplyDeleteAnd here it is May already. I'm sorry it's still cold in your part of the world! That stinks!
DeleteIt looks like you had a very nice evening with your friend. I love your screen room and I am sure you will have many more enjoyable nights out there entertaining.
ReplyDeleteI am glad to read that Greg has a doctor that is not only renowned but is a friend who will make sure that Greg gets the best care.
It really was nice! My porch is rapidly becoming my favorite part of the house.
DeleteGregg is lucky to have his doctor friend. I hope all this blows over soon and nothing is too seriously wrong. I'm still pretty worried about him.
I also have a Pomegranate growing in a pot, but I have no idea where to plant it.
ReplyDeleteI was so happy to give mine a permanent home after many years in a pot! It seems happier in the ground.
DeleteEverything looks so beautiful and peaceful in your place Jennifer.
ReplyDeleteThank you my sweet friend! We had a nice time.
DeleteSo beautiful and fun. I want that food set aside for Martina's husband. Do you think it would survive the trip?
ReplyDeleteI wish you could join us one night! We'd have so many laughs and so much fun. When's your next trip to the States? :)
DeleteGrowing a pomegranate! I am so jealous!
ReplyDeleteI hope your pomegranate it likes its new home well enough to produce fruit! (Just saw your comment above about planting another -- I guess you need two to cross-pollinate?)
