Holy cow, it's been almost two weeks since I posted here! How are you all? How's your summer going?
It's hot here. Really, really hot. And humid.
My new job is still going well. I was off campus today for a meeting/training session with all the district bookkeepers and people from the finance department. We finished earlier than expected, so I got to come home and take a break for a couple of hours. Tonight is our school's open house/orientation event for parents and students, and I'll be going up there for a while to help out. The kiddos come back to school on Monday.
What have you been up to lately?
Something that finishes earlier than expected can be such a treat! And helping out at Open Night is certainly a good way to familiarize yourself even more with your new school.
ReplyDeleteMy sister and I are both in the middle of our Yorkshire Holiday, enjoying every minute.
I've been reading about your Yorkshire holiday! Enjoy every minute!
DeleteGlad it's going well and also happy to not have that weather. It's high 70s and very pleasant here right now. A lovely breeze too!
ReplyDeleteThat sounds wonderful, Margaret! Please send some of those nice temperatures my way!
DeleteI am more apt to shower IN my clothes before I head outside!
ReplyDeleteHaha!
DeleteAs I read in a book lately, the heat and humidity make it feel like opening a dishwasher in mid-cycle, stepping in, and closing the door.
ReplyDeleteI am here to tell you that you can sweat in the shower.
Let's all try to hang on until October.
October absolutely can't get here fast enough!! Stay cool, my friend. And HAPPY BIRTHDAY TODAY!
DeleteI bet you'll have more to tell us after the open house.
ReplyDeleteThere were lots of cute little children running around. Such a change from middle school!
DeleteConsidering the heat, glad to hear all is going well with your new job!!! Me? just getting ready to start taking vacations here and there and all over.
ReplyDeleteOooh! Have fun Maddie! And drink a couple of gin and tonics for me!
DeleteGlad the new job is going well for you! It is not quite as hot here as it is for you but hotter than usual for us in Illinois. Hope your garden is surviving, Jennifer!
ReplyDeleteMy garden is struggling. It's just too hot! Veggie production has ground to a halt.
DeleteSo far this summer we've had about 5 days in the 90s (F) and that includes the last 2 days and tomorrow. What we have been getting are torrential downpours that last about an hour.
ReplyDeleteWe've gotten some rain, which was very welcome, but we could use some more. With this kind of heat everything quickly gets parched!
DeleteGlad your new job is going well. Stay cool in the heat!
ReplyDeleteI hide inside most of the day!
DeleteGood to hear new job is still going well. Summer is very hot here but today is rather cool only 105. Monsoons are here.
ReplyDeleteopps ...112 today
DeleteOmg....I don't see how you Arizona folks can stand it. That's just too hot for humans, in my opinion. Thanks for stopping by! :)
DeleteMONDAY??? School starts??? WTF? No summer holiday for children?
ReplyDeleteThe summer break for students was 8 weeks long--all of June and July. We're on a "modified year round" schedule, which means school starts a couple of weeks earlier than most surrounding districts, but then we get two extra weeks off during the year, in October and February.
DeleteI do remember in Grand Cayman that all the homes and shops had cold air blowing at you permanently, then when you went outdoors it was like being hit with a wet-heat-hammer. I couldn't understand how the locals ever got used to it.
ReplyDeleteYou can't really get used to it; you just learn to live with it.
DeleteGlad that the new job is going well. I was getting a bit worried as you hadn't posted for so long, but I guess you are just busy!
ReplyDeleteYes, busy and really tired in my spare time. Thanks for thinking of me!
DeleteGlad job is going well. When I taught there, we went back first week of August. Too early. Here the boys go back the second week. Hot.here in Florida.
ReplyDeleteFlorida is probably worse than SC in the summer! You have my sympathy.
DeleteIt truly is. Beautiful though. I was in SC yearly from 1973 until I moved there in 1994. Lived there five years…the best…
DeleteAnd now your wish has come true! LOL!! :) I hope you're doing okay, Mitchell. I've been thinking about you.
ReplyDeleteIt isn't too hot here in MI but the humidity is 88%. Back home it's hot but 15%. Either way I am thankful for AC.
ReplyDeleteWhat have I been up to lately? I decided to become a Muslim and have enrolled on a bomb making course. I also took up line dancing and bought a saxophone which I have been practising upon in spite of my neighbours' protestations. Yeah - so not much.
ReplyDeleteWow! School starts early there! Our kids do not go back until the final week of August.
ReplyDeleteI just got back from spending a week in the Adirondack Mountains of NY, and the weather was heavenly. Highs in the 70s with little humidity. Now I am back in Richmond and it is hotter than hell! Glad the job is still going well.
