Spring is rushing by, and I realized the other day that I haven't shared any pictures of it with you. Here are some pretty things that have been growing and blooming in my world over the past few weeks:
Isn't that beautiful? Our young crabapple tree has shot up to over 7' tall and two weeks ago it was covered with these pink flowers.
Speaking of beautiful..
Two borage plants from last summer started growing back late in the winter. I moved them from the zinnia bed over to the corners of the new raised bed. They've since burst into bloom, and I just love the color!
Next, some neighborhood photos with the wisteria and azaleas blooming. I just love this time of year.
Our azaleas have gone crazy this year; so much color all over the plants!
ReplyDeleteThe azaleas here are crazy, too! This one photo doesn't show off our neighborhood azaleas very well, but I was really trying to get a good picture of the trees on a hill above the creek, and my phone camera sucks...
DeleteI don't know if you know this yet Jen, but borage flowers are actually good in gin and tonics, or you can put them in Ice Cube trays, for the make really pretty ice cubes. Last year was the first year I grew borage and I'm here to tell you it took over everywhere. But they're so darn pretty. We used to have a crabapple tree, but we had it taken out as it was just about dead. I miss it's pretty color.
ReplyDeleteI remember your posts about borage flowers last year and it was the first thing I thought of when my borage came back!! I thought it was dead, honestly. And now the two plants are just covered in flowers. What a great idea about freezing them in ice cubes...THANK YOU!
DeleteI've got lots of bulb buds, but the temps are still too cold for anything else.
ReplyDeleteThis past week has been like summer, temperature wise, around here. It got cool again last night and for the rest of the month we're supposed to have more seasonal temperatures. I've noticed that the irises are beginning to bloom around here, and they're glorious!
DeleteLovely!
ReplyDeleteI wish I could get good photos of the trees and flowers. This really is a beautiful part of the world in springtime.
DeleteMy Wisteria in France covers the front of the house. It should be in flower any day, but we never get to see it. We don't go until June, when there might be a small second flowering.
ReplyDeleteThe wisteria is just about done for us. It never lasts long enough!
DeleteBeautiful! Of course you being in a different climate zone from mine, wisteria and everything else is a bit ahead from here. Azaleas and rhododendron are still mostly closed buds.
ReplyDeleteThe wisteria is almost finished here, same with the dogwood flowers. Even the crabapple is about done flowering and now just covered in leaves.
DeleteStunning! We had a crabapple tree when I was a kid. I loved that tree.
ReplyDeleteThe crabapple has gotten huge! It's growing really, really fast. We ordered it online, with some trepidation, but it's been a very healthy, vigorous tree. The flowers smell good, too!
DeleteWhat a wonderful glimpse of spring! The crabapple tree looks like it’s thriving, and it’s always a pleasure to see something you’ve nurtured grow and bloom so beautifully. The borage plants’ return is another lovely touch, especially with their vibrant color adding life to your new raised bed. It sounds like your neighborhood is also full of springtime charm with the wisteria and azaleas in bloom. It's always refreshing to see the world around us come alive in these ways. Thanks for sharing these lovely moments of the season. I shared a new post; you are invited to read.
ReplyDeleteSpring is such a beautiful time, isn't it? Your photos are great and really capture the colors. Our azaleas are blooming like crazy too. Much more so than last year, but we are supposed to get a freeze tonight, so I will enjoy them today!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful, but the last photograph takes the prize.
ReplyDeleteI love how your spring is about two weeks behind ours. The idea of it traveling north, along with the birds, is so sweet.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous, Jennifer!
ReplyDeleteThank you for that reassurance that spring is coming. We've woken up to snow the last two mornings. Not a lot, but in April, the most negligible amounts of snow are too much. :(
ReplyDeleteI also love borage blue!!!
ReplyDeleteGreat photos and great colors! We sometimes get borage sprouting here but I've never successfully moved it. It usually dies when I try to relocate it.
ReplyDeleteThe wisteria are certainly beautiful; but aren't they invasive plants.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful photos.
