Spring crud

A few days ago, I started sneezing at work over and over again. Although I'm not allergic to most spring pollen (with the exception of grass) I decided it was probably my allergies acting up, even though they've been well under control for a while now thanks to allergy shots. Well, I woke up the next morning feeling terrible, with a runny nose, cough, and body aches. I've since decided that I've caught either a cold or a mild version of Covid. Ugh!

Thursday and Friday at work were rough. I felt awful and just wanted to come home and lie down, and the hours seemed to drag. I would have used some sick time, but last week was crunch time as far as closing out this year's federal and state budget with a Friday afternoon deadline to get everything done. There was also a Friday night event at the school that I was taking payments for up until the last minute, so I just didn't feel like I could justify staying home for just a cold. When it was finally time to leave yesterday afternoon, it was a huge relief. Hopefully I'll be back up to par by the time Monday morning rolls around.

And what is it about warm weather that makes a cold feel ten times worse? At least it's still a bit chilly here at night, because nothing is more miserable than a summer cold when it's 90 degrees outside and humid. Just mild springtime mid-day warmth is unpleasant at the moment.

I really wanted to spend the weekend working in the garden, but I just don't feel up to it at all. At least it's early enough in the season that nothing is terribly pressing at the moment.

I sure hope you feel better soon! We here are chilly and damp right now. Luckily, I don't suffer allergies.

What ever bug you have caught, I hope it disappears quickly, Jennifer! Drink plenty of fluids and get lots of rest. Feel better soon!

Feel better. And you're right, the weather has been odd. Last weekend we used the AC and then on Monday the AC died. Of course, luckily the weather turned cooler so no AC was needed, which is good because we need to replace the whole system.
Oy.

I'm sorry you are sick. So many viruses out there!

Take it easy, rest up, and feel better soon, I hope!

My wife has a pollen related 'runny nose' at the moment. Yours sounds more like a virus. Taking it easy is the best medicine; and plenty of chocolate!

I'm thankful not to have allergies but my last two colds have been much, much worse than normal. :( Hope you're better soon!

Drink lots and sleep. Sleep is a great healer.

I can't believe you powered through feeling that yucky. Rest, honey! You are a strong woman but give your body a break.

I am glad that you have a weekend to sleep and recuperate. As everyone else pointed out, the garden will wait. Kids are adorable little petrie dishes, aren't they?

Regarding the gardening work, you could have just put your feet up and given Gregg a list of instructions. I hope that you are feeling a lot better tomorrow morning.

Jennifer said...

Thanks, Neil! Gregg has been doing a LOT of work in the garden for me since he retired.

I'm still not 100%, since the congestion has worked its way into my lungs, but I don't feel as bad as I did last week. Thank you Debbie.

I truly needed to be at work...the budget deadline was serious business and if I didn't get some of the money spent we would have lost it. I have a comfy office and it wasn't the end of the world, although I really just wanted to lie down.

I got a lot of it planted yesterday, but I think I overdid it and I felt pretty bad at work again today. Not as bad as last week, though!

Thank you Mitchell.

I've done a lot of sleeping. I can't seem to get any energy. My appetite is off, too, but that doesn't bother me!

I DO hate that moment! At least it should be over by this Friday when our spring break begins. I'd be mad if I got sick on vacation!

My colds have been pretty bad this year, too.

Haha! I did buy a small bag of Reese's cups as a consolation. :)

Oy indeed! Replacing an HVAC system is an expensive PIA. I'm sorry!

Especially at a school with hundreds of small children!

I'm trying but it seems to be taking a long time! Thanks Debra.

Our weather varies wildly this time of year. Lucky you with no allergies!

Fluids and rest are the best medicine! Thank you!
