The first is all my lovely allergy symptoms that crank up to high gear: sneezing, wheezing, snotty nose, burning eyes, headaches, and a general feeling of malaise. It hardly seems fair that as soon as some of the terrible heat of summer begins to subside I have to suffer with seasonal allergies.
The other sure sign of fall? The Little Debbie snack cake displays at all the stores!
Festive! |
I had never seen such snackes, but saw today a huge feeld of pompkins near my daughter house.
ReplyDeleteThese snacks are just cheap sugary junk food! They're not very good. But they have seasonal variations and the boxes make me smile.
DeleteI prefer Hostess. ;)
ReplyDeleteI'm not crazy about either of them.
DeleteLittle Debbie looks OK, but I think I'll pass on the cakes. They look like factory fodder.
ReplyDeleteFactory fodder is too kind of a description!
DeleteWe Brits don't really go in for Halloween or pumpkin cookies. In any case Halloween is a big thing in Northern Ireland but not so much in the rest of the UK where Guy Fawkes Night still holds sway. But here there are plenty of real pumpkins outside people's homes or in the front windows. And trick or treating is quite popular too - often with parents discreetly lurking in the background to make sure their kids are safe.
ReplyDeleteMemories of trick or treating as a kid are some of the best parts of my childhood. We spent a weeks deciding on our costumes and it seemed like everyone in my neighborhood participated. The kids were all out in masses going from door to door, and adults without children gave out candy and treats. Some of the neighbors really got into it and decorated up a storm. It was so great!
