A walk in the woods

Yesterday Gregg and I took advantage of the day off together and the beautiful weather and took the dogs for a walk in the woods around Jeffries Creek park here on Florence. Spring is in full swing down there. We saw pond turtles, ducks, and (luckily) no snakes!

My three favorite beings :)

Bright yellow clusters of flowers, growing in the mud.

Cypress knees by the water's edge.

Wisteria climbing the trees and perfuming the air.

The water in the creek is very low right now.

    1. You should see the masses of hot pink azaleas and the drifts of dogwood flowers all over my neighborhood! There's color everywhere you look.

    1. I wish I could have gotten a photo of the four ducks that floated past us in the creek.

  3. Love the photo of the bridge and its reflection. What a lovely park to walk in; for people and dogs alike...

    1. The trails are kind of swampy. When it gets a little bit warmer, the mosquitoes and snakes will be an issue. It IS a nice park though, mostly because it's still half wild.

  4. Beautiful; I love being out in the woods. Our Wisteria is still 'in bud', so you're quite a bit ahead of us.

    1. We once saw a beaver there! The wildlife is wonderful down there, and it's less than 2 miles from our house.

    1. This area is prettier in spring than in any other season.

  8. I so love the scent of wisteria! There is one growing on the facade of an office building I often walk past, and I always make sure to breathe deeply when it blooms (which won't happen here for at least another month).

  9. Jeffries Creek looks so lovely and its free to visit! I wonder what Marco will think when he reads the caption that declares that Gregg, Ginger and George are your three favourite beings? Prepare to get pecked!

    1. Marco can kiss my ass! He's been a shrieking holy terror this week--spring hormones are kicking in. He's nobody's favorite right now!
