In a mood

I've been inexplicably irritable today. I'm not sure why, but everyone and everything was getting on my tits (as John Gray would say) all day long!

It doesn't help that it's already been up to 98°F outside...in the middle of May, no less. Ugh. The thick, sticky, oppressive heat makes me that much more miserable.

So I'm going to bed, extra early, with the a/c turned down low (to hell with the cost) so that I won't subject my husband to my foul mood. Also, I prefer to be alone when I feel this way.

How do you cope when the "I hate everything" moods strike?

I cope however I can.
I hope you feel better tomorrow.

Turn the AC down low, turn on a movie or comic series on and go to sleep. If I don't have something to listen to and fall asleep I think of everything that I am irritated by. Not Good !
The weather and your school testing is not helping your mood.

cheers, parsnip

I do what you do. And isn't it nice to vent? It sounds so different when John Gray says "tits." Hope they're not as bothered today.

I hardly ever feel that way. Instead of feeling irritable, when I'm "in the mood", it is mostly sadness. But thankfully, those are very rare times and they have gotten rarer year after year since Steve's death.
I hope you feel your normal self again when you wake up :-)

I generally self-administer with alcohol which is probably not the best thing to do as it is usually the after effects of the last self-administration which was the cause in the first place.

P.S. If you want to get rid of that irritating gambling advert up there, it is best to go to 'comments' in the dashboard and mark it as spam rather than 'delete'.

We are all entitled to days like that. Eat chocolate.

Oh this is so relatable. I think the best way to deal is to be aware like you are and just get through it. Doing what you can to prevent affecting others. So pretty much you are doing what I do :)

I think the end of the school year brings this out, at least for me. I just want the year to be over and it's a lot of work getting everything wrapped up!

I get out of the way, too. And, the cost of electricity is just a new fact of life.

It rained all day here. The dogs don't want to go out and Penelope peed in the living room. I'm not irritated. In fact, I don't feel irritable very often. I'm just tired.

Love,
Janie

If it is during the day I try to do something physical (biking, walking fast). In the evening, like you, I just try to go to bed early. But I try to do some breathing exercises first to relax me or I won't be able to sleep.

Thank you Ms. Moon. Yesterday was better.

Yeah, "tits" doesn't seem the same when I say it, either!

Sometimes I'm struck with melancholy, but Monday was just pure irritation!

Jennifer said...

That's true...just keep on keepin' on.

Thanks for the tip, Tom. I did just what you said!

I had to force myself to be my normal, cheery self at work. Once I got hope, I didn't want to speak to anyone else for the whole day.

Since spring break the time has been dragging. But only 12 more school days to go before summer!

All wonderful suggestions! Thank you!

Poor Penelope. My George hates going out in the rain and will sneak around and poop and pee in the garage.

Our power bill is ridiculous, but as you say, it's a new fact of life. Nothing to be done!

Other people (like my husband) don't have much patience when I'm irritable. It's such a novel thing that he isn't used to it--and I'm glad. My mother could be a screaming, cursing *ahem* when I was growing up...irritable was and is her default emotional state. I inherited my typically sunny disposition from my dad.

I didn't get any exercise Monday. But I went and walked twice yesterday to make up for it.

Yes, the heat makes everything worse. We finally got some much-needed rain today, and so it's a good bit cooler. Such a relief!

I WANTED to crash around the kitchen....and eat everything in sight! But I didn't, which made me even MORE irritable!
