This past Saturday Marla came over and spent the afternoon with me. I hadn't seen her since the week after my dad died back in early January. I've been really busy with all the changes happening around here, and then she got sick (pneumonia) and was out of commission for a couple of weeks.
We spent hours talking, snacking, and drinking wine, and it was just exactly what I needed!
Talking over all the stressful stuff that's been happening with a trusted friend made me feel so much lighter. She's always so supportive and encouraging, plus we laugh a lot when we get together. I'm so grateful for her and her friendship! I hope I'm a good friend to her in return--I certainly try to be.

Sometimes all it takes is a day with the girls! That brie is a favorite of mine, and it looks delish!!!!!
Cooked Brie or Camembert are the perfect accompaniment to a glass of wine. An excellent choice.

Sounds like a perfect day. SG used to make backed stuffed brie regularly. My mouth is watering!
One of my favourite lunches is Brie and cranberry sauce on sourdough. I melt the cheese slightly in the microwave so that it is runny. Your pastry brie looks lovely.
Cranberry sauce would be delicious with Brie.

The only problem was it was a large platter of cheese, and we ate entirely too much of it (along with a lot of wine!).
It was the best afternoon I'd had in a while.
Catching up with girlfriends is a great way to spend some time on the weekend!

I have just caught up on all of your entries that I haven't read. I LOVE brie cheese. That spread you made looks so good! I love your screened in porch too. I have always wanted a porch like that to keep the bugs out in the summer. Enjoy the rest of your time off!

I’ll remind him about the baked stuff brie. It was such an easy, delicious, and elegant dish. As for the foot, it‘s great!
Just wondered how you are doing in your new job. Florence District One if I remember correctly. Hope you like being there. I enjoyed Lake City High, Ron M. Jr. High, and Marlboro Co High...my five years there...amazing people...I started at RM Jr. High my first year of teaching...in my 40's...new college grad. Jr. High was not for me although I loved the students , and they nicknamed me, "Keeper of the Stars" after the song. I moved back to WV to teach there when I received a call about Marlboro Co. Moved back and taught there two years. Received a call to come to Lake City High...the adm knew me from R M Jr. High...lots of moving around, but I did not mind. I enjoyed every aspect of teaching in District 3. The superintendent there now was my first mentoring teacher. Adored her...After five years, I had to leave. It was sad, but my daughter (in Indy) was expecting my first grandchild, and I needed to live closer. I returned to WV and taught there 13 1/2 years, only 6 hours from daughter...South Carolina found me at Myrtle, a familiar place to me previously, on weekends...I worked on my Master's at various universities, and I taught in a prison at night for a semester. I sat on the writing board at one of the colleges. I lived in Florence, Bennettsville, and Lake City...I missed it always...hope you are enjoying your experience as much as I did mine.
I love my new job! The school is great (yes, in FSD1) and I enjoy the work. There's pretty much zero stress in this new position. I'm very fortunate.
