Gregg has a blood clot on his kidney. That's why he's had so much pain. I'm really worried. They said that it could involve something with his heart, too, which I don't understand. More tests tomorrow, and he has to see a kidney specialist. They said that it will have to be addressed immediately, but we don't know if he'll be in the hospital or not.
More info tomorrow. Scary day.
thumbs up, jen and gregg! the specialists will make everything better.

I'm not a praying person, but I shall be thinking of you both in my own way. Try not to worry too much, the specialists are very clever people. Love Cro x
ReplyDeleteThey would be looking at the heart as a potential source of a clot, just covering bases. You can get through this!
ReplyDeleteIt's good that they have discovered the problem. The doctors will look after him.

ReplyDeleteGregg is not in the hospital. They put him on blood thinners and now we're waiting for an appointment with the kidney specialist.
ReplyDeleteThey said they don't think it's a dire emergency at this point, but they're very confused about how this has happened/what's going on. We're pretty worried but the doctor said that the kidney doc said that he can continue normal activity for the time being.
They also have to schedule tests with a cardiologist before the kidney guy sees him. They're afraid this may all stem from an undiagnosed heart condition. They did an EKG this morning and said it looked "iffy"....whatever the hell that means.
Reserving all my good thoughts for you and Greg.
ReplyDeleteIt's important to be concerned, but try and manage the concern, that can be extremely difficult at times. The doctors will ask lots of questions, so be prepared. Things that may seem unrelated may have an impact. You may end up being glad this problem surfaced now rather than later. My thoughts are with you and Gregg.
ReplyDeleteDave, I think most of your advice is very good. Thank you! You're right about the timing...sooner rather than later. Gregg has been feeling unwell for a while now and bow it appears that a portion of his right kidney may be damaged. It's even possible that he had a very mild stroke or heart attack at some point that was never detected. Surgery to remove an entire lung plus chemo meant we had lots of months where something like that might have been entirely possible. I'm rambling. I'll stop now. Thanks for your comment.
DeleteOh, honey. I know you must feel sick with worry. I like what Dave R said- that you may end up being glad this problem arose now to be dealt with.
ReplyDeleteIn the meantime, you obviously have a whole lot of people who care a great deal about you and Gregg. I am one of them. Carry us in your pocket.
I keep stopping myself from thinking "we've faced worse" out of a superstitious fear that that's tempting fate. But we have faced really, really hard and scary medical stuff before so right now I'm not totally prostrate with anxiety like I was when he had cancer. At least not yet.
DeleteJennifer, I am sending healing thoughts for Gregg your way, and for a sense of strength and calm for you. You are a strong and beautiful friend and I think the specialists will find quick healing for Gregg.
ReplyDeleteOh no. I'm so sorry to hear this. Please keep us posted, and meanwhile, I'm sending healing vibes from across the ocean!
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry you two have to deal with this.
