I left work early on Friday, having been suddenly taken down by nausea, an upset stomach, and body aches. I was so afraid that I'd caught the horrible stomach virus spreading through the school, and unfortunately that seems to be exactly what's happened.
Since late last night I've had the worst diarrhea of my life. I didn't know it was possible to have diarrhea like this. I'll bet I've had to run to the bathroom at least 20 times (probably more) and I just can't seem to stop. Gregg went out first thing this morning and picked up Imodium AD and Gatorade for me. It's only been about 30 minutes since I took the medicine and I've had to go 3 times since then. God, I hope it works soon. I can't stand much more of this. Plus I'm exhausted and my bottom is raw and feels like it's on fire. (Sorry if that's tmi)
I tried so hard at work to avoid catching this. Lots of hand washing, isolating in my office, etc...but it still got me.
I'm absolutely miserable. I suppose I can thank all those germy little kids for this.
Poor you! I hope you feel much better very soon. Keep hydrated.
ReplyDeleteLots of gatorade and water!
DeleteThat virus sounds horrible. Yes, keep hydrated. Gatorade/Pedialyte. Rest, which is hard to do when you're running marathons to the BR. Feel better.
ReplyDeleteParanormal John
After I got the diarrhea under control, I had terrible body aches and couldn't get comfortable for hours afterwards. I'm taking today off to rest. I'm feeling better, though.
DeleteThat's so terrible! I hope this passes quickly and you feel better soon!
ReplyDeleteBy last night I was starting to feel some better, and I woke up twice in the wee hours soaked in sweat. This morning I feel like I've turned a corner, though. Thank you Debra!
DeleteGosh I hope this passes soon. Not at all a good day.
ReplyDeleteIt was horrible. When stuff like this strikes in the middle of the night, it feels particularly nightmarish.
DeleteOh no! I'm so sorry! Keep hydrated and let us know how things go. Sometimes these gastric illnesses strike hard but pass quickly...
ReplyDeleteThat seems to be how this one works.
DeleteYou poor kid! I hope you feel better soon.
ReplyDeleteThank you!
DeleteThat sounds worse than the colonoscopy prep I had to do. I am so sorry. If this keeps up and the Imodium doesn't seem to help, you might have to go to the ER. You can get dangerously dehydrated and I don't want that to happen to you.
ReplyDeleteI swear, it WAS worse than colonoscopy prep. I couldn't believe how much fluid came out of me, which was almost clear the last couple of hours. Terrible, terrible way to spend a night! I'll bet I could get a colonoscopy now and I'd be clean as a whistle!
DeleteI hope you feel well soon Jennifer. No fun when one has to constantly trail blaze to the necessary room. Not sure I'd take anything for it. You want to make sure to get it all out with no lingering bits. Drink plenty of liquids. The same thing is going through my place of work...I and one other are the only two to have not gotten it yet.
ReplyDeleteI've been pushing fluids as hard as I can. I'm still really thirsty and can't seem to get enough to drink!
DeleteThat's horrible. I echo the comments about staying hydrated. Also butt cream or Desitin on the rear end.
ReplyDeleteThe rear end was really painful! It's better now.
DeleteUgh. They are adorable little petri dishes, though.
ReplyDeleteThey are. My favorite little group of kids who come by my office for hugs every morning had this same stomach virus (one whole family got taken down by it). I tried to give them side hugs, followed by hand washing, but it apparently wasn't enough. They are adorable, though. :)
DeleteI hope that you are using gentle baby wipes to clean up. Shall I send you some for Christmas? It all sounds pretty horrible and I hope that I can't catch the stomach virus from this blogpost.
ReplyDeleteFunny, we saw an ad on tv for diaper rash cream and the announcer said something about how painful diaper rash can be...and I shouted, "IT SURE IS!!" which made my husband smile. I'm feeling better today. Taking the day off to recuperate, though.
DeleteSounds like first class norovirus to me. A week in bed, but you can be up for Christmas. Take care.
ReplyDeleteI think you're probably right.
DeleteI had something like that 2 months ago, felt like I was being punched in the stomach repeatedly. The Imodium didn't work for me, I used Kaopectate and that did the trick for the diarrhea. It took about a week for the pain to disappear.
ReplyDeleteThe diarrhea was RIDICULOUS. I've never had it so bad! And I ached all over, which was almost as bad, because I couldn't get comfortable no matter what I did. I'm so thankful to be on the mend today!
DeleteHow awful for you, and presumably for all the others who have the same. I'm sure it will clear-up before Christmas. There's nothing worse than being ill over the festive season. Best wishes xx
ReplyDeleteLast year I got Covid for the first time right before Christmas. Thank goodness it seems like I'll be well this year before the holiday gets here. I'm feeling much better today.
DeleteI agree with Joanne, it sounds like Noro. Hopefully, you'll be completely rid of it within a few days.
ReplyDeleteI thought of Noro too. God, it was awful! Staying home today to have a little more time to rest and recuperate, but I'm feeling much better.
DeleteImpossible to avoid this shit (yes, I said it) with all those kids around. Hope it stops soon. But at least you got it out of the way before holiday break! Feel better!
ReplyDeleteHaha. You're right. It seems inevitable that some sickness will result from all those sick kids no matter what you do to try to prevent it. Today is much better! Thanks!
DeleteGlad to hear that you are already improving. Hope you continue to feel better. Vaseline on your bum helps! Sounds like you are doing all of the right things. Rest and recover quickly!
