I'm also baking some chocolate chip pumpkin muffins since the oven is hot. Those will be for snacks this week.
The painting I'm having framed for him won't be ready for almost three weeks! I didn't realize it would take so long, but he's happy to wait. We're both pretty excited about it.
I couldn't figure out how to rotate the photo so you'll have to look at it sideways to get a better idea of it. I think the mat and frame I chose for it will look good....I hope so.
I was disappointed in our families yesterday. No one called or texted Gregg for his birthday. No one on either side makes much of an effort, as much as it pains me to say so. Oh well. We have each other, right? I love that man to bits, and I told him so several times.
koi fish! and what a tasty looking cake! sounds like a lovely birthday for gregg.
ReplyDeletemy spouse's brother has not called my guy since the hip replacement surgery on 10/2. my BIL is a MAGAt and a useless POS. it's not just limited to your family, sadly.
Oooh, yes, unfortunately my family support Dump and I can barely stand to think of it. We're a lot less close because of it, and even though it makes me sad it's got to be that way. :/
DeleteYou can make my pineapple upside down cake any day! What a beauty. And the same for the painting. It's beautiful. Happy birthday to your Gregg.
ReplyDeleteThank you Joanne.
DeleteAs a fellow member of the Human Family, I wish Gregg the happiest of birthdays.
ReplyDeleteThank you Geo! I haven't seen you around in a while. Hope you're doing well!
DeleteHappy birthday, Gregg! As to family who can't even be bothered- it's so easy to say "let them go" but it still hurts.
ReplyDeleteBut I'm sure he knows how much you love him and I'm sure that you are his life as well as his wife. And that's what's important. The cake looks absolutely sinfully delicious.
Well, it turned out that his sister tried to call on his birthday and he missed the call and didn't know. They had a good chat the next day, so that was nice. I was happy for him.
DeleteSounds like a lovely day , cake looks yummy and the painting is fabulous.
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday Gregg !
parsnip
Oh I wanted to tell you that Arizona never changes the time !
I think I knew that about Arizona....but I'm not sure. :) The cake WAS yummy!
Deletegood for him! I think everyone should get their birthday off.
ReplyDeleteHe works too much, but it seems to be wired into him and I can't make him stop. I'm glad when he takes a little time for himself.
DeleteWonderful looking cake; well done. The picture certainly looks worth waiting for, he'll be thrilled.
ReplyDeleteHe loves that picture and is excited to have it framed, finally.
DeleteWhat a beautiful picture! Those koi will look great, no matter where you will choose to put them on the wall.
ReplyDeleteIt saddens me to read about your family situation. Sometimes I have rebellious thoughts about NOT wanting to see my folks (especially after a very busy working day or week), but in the end I love them to bits and would never forgive myself if I did not make the most of the years we will hopefully still have them around.
Belated Happy Birthday wishes to Gregg! Your steaks, cake and muffins sound yummy.
I envy people with close families, even though I know that it can be annoying sometimes. Our families aren't bad people, we're just not really close with most of them. It's a shame, but such is life.
DeleteThe cake and picture look wonderful, happy birthday to Gregg.
ReplyDeleteYou're always so kind, Yael. Thank you!
DeleteWish Gregg a happy birthday from Spain. I love him just because of how you speak of him. The steak sounds SO good and oh that cake is a work of art. So lucky! And speaking of art, I love the painting. Looking forward to seeing it framed. Be grateful for each other and for th lives you’ve created. My extended family was the same way; it hurt I’m sure but I was so used to it that I think it hurt Jerry more than it did me.
ReplyDeleteThat's how I feel....more hurt for Gregg than for myself. As far as my family goes, I'm used to having conflicting feelings and not always the relationship I would like to have with them. Thank you Mitchell.
DeleteThe pineapple upside down cake looks splendid. I guess the hole was for a candle. It must have been a bloody big one!
ReplyDeleteIt's a super easy recipe. It would take a pillar candle to fit in that hole!!!
DeleteHappy Birthday to Greg and what a wonderful dinner you prepared for him including that fabulous cake.
ReplyDeleteThe cake was great. Gregg ate most of it. (I only had a couple of small slices).
DeleteThat cake looks fantabulously delicious. Now I'm going to have to bake one myself. Glad Greg had a good birthday!!
ReplyDeleteHe did, and thank you Dave.
DeleteHappy belated birthday Gregg! The cake looks wonderful! In fact in made my blood sugar go up about 100 points it looked so good. :) You have each other and that's what's important...enjoy that!
ReplyDeleteWise words indeed!
DeleteWhat a beautiful painting! I can't wait to see what it looks like framed. And that pineapple upside-down cake looks incredible too. I haven't had one of those in years. Glad Gregg got some time off.
ReplyDeleteI'll be sure and post photos of it once I get it back. I think a matte and frame will make a large difference.
